We came on a holiday hoping to try the fish soup, but it was sold out! The place was filled with locals and we had to wait a while for a table. By then, all they had left in the kitchen was dried skipjack salad or sandwich. We tried the dried skipjack salad. We enjoyed it, but it might not be to the tastes of a lot of tourists. It was a fun local place. They didn't speak English, but we still felt well taken care of. Great memory for us!
Not in a tourist spot and therefore a gem. I ate in the back area and there were only Portuguese people there. After gesticulating with hands and feet, I was given a brilliant fish soup (peixe) filled with large pieces of fish (be careful of the bones) and potatoes. With an empty plate and a full stomach, the boss wanted to give us a second helping, which is probably common there. Absolutely fair price considering the contents of the soup.
The food is just space! Very, very, very tasty! Fish soup! ??? You can also order tuna sandwiches to take away if, for example, you are going for a walk along the levadas! The sandwich costs only 4 euros, and the soup costs 16 euros, but the portion is simply huge, for 2 people. The owners, husband and wife, cook the food themselves; they don’t speak English.
