Delicious codfish cakes!!! The host and waiter were wonderful with explanations. We wanted a codfish cake before we left Lisbon. We came to the right place.
In a busy tourist thoroughfare like Rua Augusta in Lisbon you can find a lot of mediocre or outright bad food….but not at Cozinha d’Avo Celeste. This restaurant looks and sounds like the many others around it, but our lunch here was a pleasant surprise. One of us had Fish and Chips (always a good bet in Portugal) while the other had Vegetable Paella. Both meals were tasty. If you seek a decent lunch to fuel you for an afternoon of Lisbon hill climbing, then try this place!
Had to stop for eating something diet to the late time, this was available for seats. Quality level medium, very touristic, prices above the quality provided. I would not come back
worst experience ever in a restaurant. codfish full of bones, pre-cooked and microwaved food, overcooked rice, bad gravy. Even the fries were bad. Do yourself a favor and avoid it
We were passing this place and saw the Bacalao fish cakes Pastéis de Bacalhau I think. I loved them so much that one evening I just had a couple for my meal. I enjoyed the wine (rose and white) and especially the sangria, both red and surprisingly white! The young staff were really friendly and fun, and the language barrier between English and Portuguese didn’t really matter. The majority of the staff spoke English to put English speakers to shame.
We stopped off for a pastel de cacalhau and a glass of port. Service was ok, not impressive. Seats outside a good, as you can see everyone walking past. Pastel tasted ok, port tasted cheap. Nice experience, wouldn't visit again
The food was very bad and the prices were definitely too high. I spent 20€ for 1 pastel de Bacalhau, a coke and a terrible rice which seemed to be cooked the day before. I would NOT recommend it
Chegamos bem e felizes!).
They serve the best coffee in the area, the service is very good, super friendly and a very pleasant space.

Welcoming, good quality pastry and baking at a very good price
Had lunch here, the bacalhau a braz was dry but we still managed to eat it, the pasteis de bacalhau on the other hand were inedible, they were sour and had clearly gone off and were not fresh at all. After 1 week in Lisbon this was the 2nd last lunch and it was terrible, there wasn’t a single other meal that was not good except for this one so it’s disappointing that in. Such a tourist central location, this restaurant chooses to take advantage of tourists. Avoid at all costs.
We stopped here for lunch after our tour. The waiter suggested the Codfish "a Bras" and my wife had that. I didn't think that I'd like it and opted for the Codfish with cream and potatoes gratin. Mine was quite good but unfortunately hers was dry and lacking in flavour. We split 50/50. I had half of hers and she had half of mine.
professional and friendliness
Fantastic
