Stayed at a hotel close to the airport looking for something for supper within walking distance. Went here based on previews reviews and were not let down. Owner let us in before opening time. Food is authentic Portuguese and delicious. Just what we wanted before heading back to Canada.
Genuine, down to earth lovely family. Rute, was the cook, Alexandra, her daughter was our server and Joaquim, the father, was in charge of the cash register and the drinks. Jose, a customer and close friend of the family, saw that we were a little out of place, so he acted as a greeter and translator. We were seated and snails were recommended while we waited for our fish. Snails, picked right out of the shell and cold beer. Life does not get any better. Our fish was done to perfection...
This restaurant is wonderful. We arrived before the kitchen opened and the owner allowed us to order. My phone needed to be charged and he let me charge it. The food was tasty - we had 2 francesinha, 1 mixed grill, 1 litre of house wine, cheese, bread, olives and 3 desserts. Total €45. Very good value and the waiters were attentive and spoke English well. I'd recommend eating here. Oh, and the fries were the best we've had in Portugal.
