Was told about a place in Vilamoura doing a hot tapas platter for €3.95 and I thought it was nonsense. Well I was wrong! Me and a work colleague just stopped by at G’s cafe on our lunch break to be greeted by the very friendly owner who confirmed the price and the choices we had, we could choose between a Portuguese, English or Mexican platter and the price was €3.95 per person. I had the Mexican platter and my work colleague the Portuguese platter, we ordered a glass of house wine each which was promptly brought to the table within a minute of ordering and only 8-10 or so minutes later the food arrived. I had 4 tapas bowls loaded with hot food and a delicious dip. My friend had a selection of Portuguese bits, We shared our food and tried a bit of everything from each other’s bowls. The hot dishes were so delicious! Everything made fresh in house we were told and you could taste it’s freshness with a home made feel but perfectly made. This was the best lunch I’ve ever had for under €5.00 - my mind is still blown by the price. I’ve paid more for cake and coffee on the marina. We had an espresso coffee to finish and the bill was just shy of €15 for both! Everybody needs to know about this place. The owner is so so friendly and certainly knows how to cook. We’ll be back for sure! Have to add that also during this pandemic it’s scary to visit restaurants and pubs but we were able to sit outside either under cover or in the open air. Tables were clean, Georgina (owner) put a paper place mat down for each of us as we sat down and I saw her clean the table and plastic chairs of other tables when people left. That was very comforting to see. I can see why all reviews are good for this place. Well worth the visit and now regular future visits from me.
