Remember the British comedy tv show called Little Britain "computer says nooooo"? Well Dunes Cafe could be the host of a new comedy show called "waiter says noooooo". I popped in there at the end of a long and hot bike ride with my girlfriend (height of summer) and we sat outside facing the sea in the shade. The waiter (and waitress) were happy to tell us this wasn't allowed on a table normally reserved for 4 people. I informed them I didn't want to sit in the sun and asked if they have another option for us. Upon considering the option of breaking the 2 people on a 4 person table rule vs losing half their customers, as the place was almost empty anyway, the waiter informed me that this wasn't possible. Clearly it was better for me to get sunburnt and stare at a wall instead of the beach than break their strange table rule. For me it seemed pointless to me to pay triple the price of an average algarvian cafe if I have to suffer sunburn and cant even look at the view, so I informed him we would be leaving. He seemed agreeable and for the first time since I arrived the waiter didnt say nooooooo. He smiled as I left and I went next door, never to return... One can only imagine the waiting staff at Dunes aren't working on a profit share !

First time I've eaten in Dunes, have only been for drinks in the past. Great spot and lovely views. Breakfast menu is superb but the service really is a little slow. We had to repeatedly ask for certain items and we didn't get all our meals together. Wouldn't put me off going back when we visit again.

Wouldn’t recommend the food at all. We had caesar salads and they were floppy and overdressed with lackluster pre cooked chicken. Unfortunately the prepared to be amazed statement on their menu is far from the truth. Beautiful setting and attentive service but would recommend sticking to drinks.

I was a costumer and a worker there. As a costumer the service was terrible, I waited 40min for a cup of coffee and it was not good. As a worker (it was after the experience of being customer), they promised me a certain salary and deceived me completely, too much money that they did not pay me. Awful place!
Lovely location for lunch, however service leaves a lot to be desired. One order was completely forgotten and another had a hair in the meal. Even settling up afterwards was painful as the staff had disappeared. Shame – it really spoilt what would have been a nice meal with friends.
Terrible food. Nice view friendly staff. May strongly recommend to eat next door. There’s other restaurants nearby which were a good choice. The food we had at dunes was disgusting. Had burgers. The thin Meat patty was obviously processed food from the freezer and then deep fried to death. Garnished with a thin slice of tomato and one salad leaf. Fries were fine so we ate those and returned the burgers. Kitchen said “sorry that’s how we do it here” and we got fully charged.

The best we can say is that the staff tried hard. Nevertheless, the five girls and boys were overwhelmed with the ten tables. Even the table reservation was a bit chaotic. Later the dessert was forgotten. Food was nothing special. Chicken on the César salad was fridge cold. Price performance for the original, only two stars.

Nice staff and great location. The food and coffee were not good. Avocado Toast for example was avocado on soggy bread and pesto just doesn't go with fried egg

Friendly welcome and service The terrace with a view of the sea which is not uninteresting Value for money is good We had a nice time We tried the piri piri chicken, the sauce is nice and the chicken is grilled properly, leaving the meat tender. Desset advised by the excellent waiter
