The restaurant was recommended by the owner of our villa and we had seen the positive reviews online. We decided to make the trip on our last night having seen how busy it was the night before we got there nice and early. I would say this was a different experience to the more tourist areas, the staff spoke small amounts of english and there was no drinks menu, this just added to the charm. We had mixture of beef steak, chicken and swordfish. It was all delicious and good portions. It was probably the tastiest meal we had during our stay and also the cheapest. Definitely recommend if in the area and looking for a charming little place to eat.

Great place. Was looking for a place with great steak, but a mix that would satisfy all in our group. It was fantastic. Steak was perfectly cooked, great service, small family run place. Have been back already for lunch and it was great. On a nice day you can sit outside in the courtyard and enjoy the sun and surroundings. Beware though, you may never want to leave.

Excellent food (chateaubriand shared with 2 persons) and very friendly service. Also recommending deserts! Worthwhile the visit.

Every year we go to stay in Olhao for 3 months and visit this restaurant many times. Its always great. We often get the Chateaubriand on the stone, marvellous. We now call the restaurant Chateaubriand. Mainly run by mother and daughter who are lovely and welcoming. My daughter comes to visit us for a week and always wants to eat here. Tried many places in Olhao. This is one of favourites

OMG! Six stars please! We have visited several times of a morning for a coffee and Maria has always been very welcoming. As we are relatively new to the locality, our first meal was last week and what a meal it was!! Very tasty, good portions and Maria and her daughter were attentive and pleasant. It might not be as cheap as other Portuguese restaurants but that’s fine because you certainly get value for money. A really nice vibe to the place too. We’ll be back very soon!!!!

Although off the beaten track this is a superb place for a meal and a drink.A substantial and varied menu at a reasonable price. People seem to come from far and near and if coming in a group I would advise pre booking. All the staff are friendly and hard working.Highly Recommended . Sean& Mary Celbridge Co. Kildare R.O.I.

We have been coming here for 20 Years. Last month only 3 visits in 8 days during a stay in the Algarve. That says something! On arrival fresh from a drive from Lisboa a lovely hug from Mariaand well looked after by her Daughter ( or is it a sua nora?). Mum pretends to understand my strangled Portuguese.... her Daughter who spent some years in London is perhaps less tolerant!! What I love is that it hasnt changed. Ambiance and food great. Yes Maria does the bill on the tablecloth in Euros. Not many years ago she did it in escudos even after the Euro became the currency! We love you Maria! Tu es uma estrella! PS for a recent American poster. Maria takes cash.....she prefers it!!

This is truly a fabulous, cheap eats, traditional Portuguese restaurant. They have amazing fresh fish and the steak on a stone is to die for. You can't pay cash, in fact, if you request the bill/check you won't get one. Instead, the Portuguese lady owner will come to ask you what you ate, she writes it on the paper napkin and added it all up in front of you. You can eat outside or inside as this place has a lot of character!

Lovely family restaurant with low key atmosphere. We ate here several times and is was always good. Except for the chicken piri piri that was a bit dry and not very spicy. But the sole and the steak on stone were fantastic. Cataplana must be ordered in advance and that was delicious! The home made desserts are also a must try!

Grilled fish and meat, clams, tamboril rice and cataplana... everything at its best. In a familiar environment, with top class ingredients and warm people. Try it, I became addicted and come back anytime I am in Algarve.

What a great find this restaurant was. Staying in nearby Fuseta we were looking for somewhere more rural inland and found this through Trip Advisor. The food was excellent with a very good choice of both fish and meat. There was also a set meal at lunchtime which we had several times. Main course, dessert, wine and coffee for €16 for the two of us!! We also ate from the main menu and the steak in wine sauce was delicious. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. A lovely setting, typical Portuguese and such a friendly welcome and service.
