Lovely authentic Portuguese restaurant. Friendly, welcoming & professional staff. Quality food, lovingly prepared & well presented. By the end of the eve, this restaurant was full, on a Saturday night in February with Portuguese people - speaks for itself. A must visit, a short walk from centre of town.
We visited the restaurant several years ago and had a high reputation for good quality food at a reasonable price. Our waiter told us the restaurant has been under new management for the past year and clearly had been remodeled and aiming for a different clientele. Our group of 3 Portuguese had high expectations. The ambiance was very good as was the service provided by our waiter. We had ordered steak and pork dishes. The taste of which was Ok at best. How in Portugal you can get Pork and Steak that is just OK I genuinely don’t understand. The meat we buy from our local butcher tastes so much better. If one dish was just OK I could put it down to bad luck but all three being mediocre suggests they need to change their meat supplier. This was very much a case of style over substance. We eat out several times a week in a wide range of restaurants but unfortunately this doesn’t cut it. There are many restaurants in the greater Lisbon area providing tastier food at a lower price point. A pleasant ambiance and attentive waiters isn’t sufficient. The food has to be up to the same level. Right now it isn’t.
We have been to Pereira three times during our stay in Cascais. We have greatly enjoyed the quality of food presented. The flavors are simple but still more sophisticated than the typical restaurant in Cascais. We ordered the fava beans and sausage as an appetizer -- amazing! We had the pork shoulder and enjoyed every bite. We fought over the leftover of the veal stew the next day and it did not disappoint. There has not been a dish that we did not love. And the service - Paulo took care of us twice and his recommendations and understated manner added to the experience. This may seem over the top but we have been in Cascais for a month and dined in many restaurants here and enjoyed a variety of dishes. But Pereira is one of the best in town. Try it!!
The food and service at this restaurant is superb (and I have pretty high standards!). My family of three found Pereira on our second to last night in Caiscais and just wished that we had found it earlier but we were thankful that we got to have two dinners there. The food is prepared with real care and is very fresh. The menu is not huge which we thought was a good sign that the dishes would all be good which proved to be the case. I had baked cod on the first night which was amazing and it was served with the best broccoli I have ever tasted! My daughter had the veal stew with rice which was so good that she had to have it again the following evening. On the second night, I had tuna tartare and grilled octopus which was amazing, and my husband had the baked cod with potatoes and vegetables which he thoroughly enjoyed. The servings are generous and the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and service. And the vibe in the restaurant is very relaxing. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It was the best food that we had while on our two week trip to Portugal (1 week in Lisbon and 1 week in Caiscais) and we ate out every day. We felt so lucky to have found this place.
We ate here frequently on holiday. It was close to where we were staying in a quiet part of town. The food was of an excellent quality and always beautifully presented. The restaurant is situated up a bank away from the area of town most frequented by tourists but want to say it is so well worth the walk. The staff are attentive and friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and wines on offer. I have noticed photographs on websites that are out of date. The restaurant still produces great Portugese food but has had a refurbishment and is very smart inside. We would highly recommend a visit to anyone
A great revival. Knew the "old" Pereira, a Pearl in Cascais cuisine but now I visited the renewed Pereira. New management, a renovated area but the same excellent food with a very friendly service at a very reasonable price. Today it will be my 3rd visit in 10 days and I guess it says it all
