Great surprise! We discovered this surprising restaurant by chance. And we were pleasantly surprised. The fish fillet dish was excellent. After communication difficulties, we ordered a vegetarian pasta dish that is not on the menu. The dish was just great. The food there is excellent. Highly recommended also because of the very cheap prices!

We ate here on our very first visit to Monchique in May 2015 and haven't eaten anywhere else in the town on subsequent visits. This traditional restaurant just delivers exactly what two hungry hikers need: excellent well-cooked Portuguese food - and plenty of it - at unbelievable prices. On this latest trip we had olives, half a litre of wine, a soft drink, turkey in mushroom sauce and steak in pepper sauce, tea and coffee, plus a glass of port for just over 23 euros. How they do it we just don't know (and obviously we left a decent tip). Best of all, the service is always friendly and it's popular with locals. It was at O Ze that we tasted green wine for the first time - at the owner's recommendation. Maybe we will try another restaurant in Monchique one day ... or maybe not! Why go elsewhere when this little restaurant has everything we need.
