The homemade soup and octopus gallego starters were so tasty. The was followed by cod fish and octopus main courses that were beautiful. Washed down with a lovely dry house white wine, it was the perfect meal
This restaurant is so good, we went 3 times in our week’s holiday. Everything is great but the chocolate mousse is incredible. My advice to anyone is to go and eat here!
Lovely meal in relaxed atmosphere, great service and food. Warm goat’s cheese salad is delicious, my husband loved the sea bass and my duck was very tasty. Leave room for dessert!
This is a very busy restaurant, very nice staff , and very nice food, unfortunately it began to rain when we sat down but the staff were quickly organising the tables and taking them indoors.
The food was excellent, but the service for me just made the visit quite disappointing. On google this place is marked as children friendly, but when we booked a table for 5 (two adults and three children) we didn’t even get a seat for the 5th person but a baby’s chair. This though all our three children were quite visible to the waiter when we booked the table. I had to sit on the edge of the table, with no cutlery or napkin being given to me. When the food arrived there was not enough room on the table (with the table being for 4 people, not for 5 as we ordered). The waiters also seemed to have no understanding for the fact that our children was going to share a plate of food (since there were no such option as to getting a smaller portion for a child). I would recommend this place for a couple or for groups of adults but if you have children I would stay away.
Second time this week. Superb fresh food. Prawns. Carpaccio (tuna and veal). Duck breast. Lamb shank. Sea bass. Chocolate mousse. The tastes. Olive oil. Garlic. Coriander. Ginger. Red pepper. Herbs. Sauces. Vegetables. Arugula. Balsamic vinegar. All brilliant additions to fantastic food. Add Portuguese wine. Nothing in Tavira to compare.
Wonderful dinners here twice during our stay in beautiful Tavira. Reservations are essential. This is a very popular restaurant. Food is excellent. Good wine list. The owner and her brother who is the chef are running a great place. Don’t miss it!
Visited for the first time last month with family who have been going to Tavira for years. Loved the decor, food was traditional with a modern twist and staff were lovely too.
Portuguese cuisine elevated to the next level. Bread, carrots and homemade pate to start. Had lots of carrots and pate on this trip, best so far. I had bruschetta to start, definitely enough for two but my wife had oysters, which com in 7s? The smoked cod bruschetta with its rustic tapenade, chunks of raw garlic, rocket and Parmesan were to die for. The oysters were served with various fish eggs, also very good. We ordered a bottle of green wine from the very good local wine list. I had confit duck leg with potato gratin and drunken pears, absolutely delicious, and this was the third octopus my wife had, had on this trip and said it was the best one so far. We don’t normally have pudding but opted for the chocolate mouse with pistachios, gorgeous. Would definitely recommend, eat here if you can. Great atmosphere too.

One of the best meals we had in Tavira - the prawns for starters were served perfectly still hot in the pan, fish was cooked to perfection and my husband was delighted with an ample portion of 3 octopus legs , really great service and lovely atmosphere
We recently visited Tavira and Tonel was that good we went twice. It is located on a picturesque pedestrian street and does get quick busy so would recommend pre booking. The food was amazing we had the lamb shank and duck breast. 10/10 would recommend visiting.
Had a lovely meal here - you need to book as it gets busy. The location is gorgeous on a beautiful pedestrian street. Great service too - very friendly. They have 2 vegetarian mains. We’d said one of our party was vegan when we booked and they prepared a special main for them too. Lovely lemon meringue for dessert too.
It's very good, the food is delicious?????❤❤❤?❤

Lovely food and service. Cod bruschetta was superb, the prawns were beautiful and for mains the duck leg was delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. Washed down with a lovely bottle of Setubal wine and great value at €90 for both of us. We would have had a pudding but couldn’t manage it and could just about move after the mains!! Recommend this place if you want a more upmarket meal in Tavira.
