“A small and traditional place with a very special charm. The service was super friendly and affectionate and the best was the food, everything we ordered was spectacular, the beans with choco were a delight and their homemade sardine preserves on toast were simply spectacular.“

“Van de vele restaurantjes hier aan de boulevard was hier de bezetting het hoogste. Meestal duid dit op een goede kwaliteit. Na onze maaltijd kan ik beamen dat in ieder geval de gerechten die wij besteld hadden werkelijk van hoge kwaliteit waren (pepersteak & zwaardvis steak). Verder hele goede indruk van personeel en entourage. Echt een aanrader!“

“A family lunch which turned out an excellent experience. Far too much food but all well cooked, well presented and friendly staff. A limited menu but something for everyone with a variety of meats and fish served with a tasty salad. Very reasonable prices, not a lot of tourists but predominantly locals coming for lunch. “I had lunch at this restaurant because there was no other place nearby… and I must highlight what an excellent surprise it was. From the simple starter of garlic shrimp and octopus salad, to octopus kebab and octopus stew with clams.

“We ate three different pastries. All super tasty. Especially the pineapple cake and the flan. Before that we ate toasted bread with cheese and ham. Also super tasty and above all juicy and crispy. And all of this at a very fair price. We will be back :-)“

“After trying this family-run restaurant and being very happy with everything we ordered, we have returned to Gaivota several times. We are never disappointed. The grilled fish (golden bream, see bass and so on) is always perfectly cooked. My husband had fried squid recently and thought it was fabulous. He also praised the mixed grill. The desserts are excellent! The waitress is friendly and attentive and has a great sense of humour. Just a note: If you want to have a cataplana, you have to order it the day before. Ours was delicious!“

“Fish of the day was Bream and they did a good job grilling it. The serving was large and included boiled potatoes and a few boiled vegetables -- typical for this part of Portugal. We also had a salad which was nicely dressed in-house. The owners are eager to please customers. We were at the same place a few years ago and were initially disappointed that it chan ged hands; but the new owners look like they will be successful.“

“The place and the service are great. The prices are reasonable considering that you are just a stone's throw from one of the most important beaches in the Algarve. The dishes we ordered were very good, except for the ceviche which was just lemon juice with fish. He lacked everything. It didn't have red onion, it didn't have sweet potato or sweet corn. Not hot either. I was going to say it was the worst ceviche I've ever had in my life, but it's not a ceviche. It is fish in lemon juice.“
