We stopped in Santarém for lunch and saw this traditional cuisine restaurant. We arrived just at the time when almost everyone was queuing to pay but there was a free spot and we were attended to right away. The waitress is super kind, friendly and advised us on everything. First he gave us some exquisite olives and then a spectacular cheese. The dishes we ordered were also finger-licking good. After desserts we were treated to a shot of cherry liqueur. In short, a totally recommendable place for quality, service and also good price in the center next to the Santarém municipal market. It is called "O Pião", which in Spanish means "The Spinning Top", of which they have a very large example that is hanging from the ceiling in the dining room.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Very good value for money! The Google maps location is wrong though it's on the parallel street behind. Highly recommend but be prepared to wait a bit for a table at lunchtime, it's very popular!
