“We got there by accident while driving to the nuns' valley. It is a place visited mainly by the local community with local decor and atmosphere (I personally love and appreciate such places). The food is very tasty, fries cut from fresh potatoes (the large portion of fries is huge), delicious meat, wonderful vegetables. Local service with very basic English but I highly recommend it.“

“Parking space is scarce... great view. Sitting outside under sun protection is great. Portions are large and so it is enough for two adults to order just one espetada.

“If you are looking for delicious food with exceptional service this is the spot to visit when you are in Santa Cruz Maderia. Henrique has an amazing talent of providing classical Portuguese dishes with a modern twist. I have had the privilege of eating here several times and we’ve adored every meal!!! The chef Henrique is kind and generous along with all the staff. Don’t hesitate, as this place will not disappoint. I wish I could give this place 10 stars !!!!! The food is sooooo good !!! We are from Canada and can’t wait to come back and eat here again ! Thank you to everyone at Doce for giving us such a unique and welcoming experience in Santa Cruz.“

“Tried the Pastel de Nata many times before: in Portugal, Macau, HK, and never liked it. Until this one - it’s a different level of this pastry! Never thought it could taste like this. Go to Sta Cruz just to try it!!

“Portela À Vista Restaurant is fantastic and very easy to find. I have never been to a more beautiful restaurant with such a fantastic view of nature.
On Saturdays, we knew in advance that there would be a lot of people waiting for a table, so we called the day before to make a reservation. When we arrived at Portela Restaurant, we only had to wait for a few minutes.
We asked the waitress for the traditional food, espetada with French fries, and the food was excellent. The prices for food and drinks were very reasonable considering the quality offered.
However, we were not pleased with the service. The waitress was occasionally inconvenient and often seemed upset about things that customers shouldn’t need to be concerned with.“

“If you are looking for authentic Portuguese food with unbeatable service and in a Portuguese atmosphere, this is one of the best places.
Very friendly waitresses, excellent food and very cozy place with excellent views from its terrace.

“Don't be afraid, if nobody is inside. We had beef and chicken espetada and it was delicious. Meal comes with sides (rice, fries and salad) and the whole portion was really big. Seems more for locals than for turists. Definitely worth the visit!“

“The food was wonderful and amazing great atmosphere great view from the balcony on the first floor, there was a little incident with the waiter spilling some drinks over my wife, but the food was outstanding amazing highly recommending this place.
Vegetarian options: There is several vegetarian options not only for pizza
Parking: There is street parking all around the amount for free
Kid-friendliness: There is several healthy options for kids.
Wheelchair accessibility: On the ground floor, there is space for wheelchair to enter. The doors are wide enough for them.“

“Small, remote restaurant. Homemade cakes and smoothies are really tasty and freshly made. The poncha was rather medium, but above all not cold enough. Nevertheless, everything fits. I think you can definitely stop here. We didn't eat anything, but what we saw looked pretty good so far.“
