This is one of the authentic bars in Madeira. Starting from the front door itself, above which something about tradition is written, to the door handle itself, which is original and over 100 years old. The floor is made of cobblestone, old stone, like Skadarlija in Belgrade or in general the old pedestrian zone in cities. Inside there is an old anchor, lanterns, machines used to make wine, as well as various other decorative items. The choice of drinks is a separate story and I hope I won't scare you if I tell you that there are old bottles of wine that cost 2000 euros. Good old rum is served here as well as standard drinks. The view is beautiful because the sea is right across the street. Truly a place you should visit if you're passing by.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Porto de Abrigo Review
Porto de Abrigo is an absolute gem! After an exciting jeep tour, we arrived at this wonderful spot with a breathtaking ocean view around 4 PM. The wine tasting experience was a highlight, offering a diverse selection of exquisite local wines. Each sip was a delight!
We also enjoyed the selection of ponchos, with the orange and passion fruit flavors being our favorites. The cozy poncho provided kept us comfortable during our visit. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning to Porto de Abrigo. Highly recommended! ???

Were here in the afternoon. Asked the younger waiter which puncha he recommended. The Fishermann was made for me on the spot. Peel from lemon. Recommended.
Went again in the evening. It was busier then and it was already ready. So arrive on time for the perfect puncha experience

We stopped here at the end of a lovely day touring the west of the island & enjoyed some drinks. We also pick up a few gifts to take home. The staff were very friendly & helpful, & spoke excellent English, which was a bonus as we don't speak Portuguese.
Sadly we couldn't stay too long as we had a deadline to meet. Reasonably priced drinks in a nice bar.

Quite atypical little bar but really nice, a must to taste one of the best ponchas I've had on the island!

Came here for a quick drink. They let you taste various ages/styles of madeira wine.
Prices are cheap. Only way this could be better is if you could see the ocean from the seats but instead can only hear it because of the wall.

We've been here a few times and have always been impressed. 2021 for the first time. The selection of Madeira wine is good. There are different vintages. The poncha is also great. Today.....the waitress (woman) was in a very bad mood and was reluctant to wipe the table.
Parking: Possibly free at the door. There are plenty of parking spaces in town.

Without a doubt the best place to drink ponchas in the area. Being tourists, we entered Porto de Abrico on a recommendation and ended up returning there every afternoon!
