We were well received and were able to be accommodated even though we had not booked. This place was presented to us as a canteen. The boss didn't give us a menu and told us that he could offer us a plate of charcuterie as a starter then a pasta dish with shrimp or a cod dish. Everything looked good, we were confident, it's not a very touristy place and we didn't ask for the menu thinking that it wouldn't be expensive given the place and the dish. We had the charcuterie plate, pasta and a drink each. In the end we paid €175 for 6 people (including a little one who didn't eat much), without wine, without dessert, without coffee!! 40€ for a charcuterie plate! Certainly good but at this price it must be announced. And then €20 for a plate of pasta with shrimp. Frankly, it's way too expensive and overused. We felt ripped off. Ask for prices before ordering.

Picture this - It was a Monday night in a rural town along the Duoro River. You’re greeted by a wonderful family, Ed, Liliana and their daughter, into their beautiful & quaint 300 year old home and Portugal just won their game in the UEFA Euro in penalty kicks.
Seems too good to be true right?
Well, that’s exactly what we experienced at Cozinha do Ed. Ed and Liliana were so lovely and hospitable welcoming us into their home as if we were family. The food, the service, the atmosphere was excellent and the wine, even better!

For those who want to have an experience in a rural location, the “COZINHA do ED” house takes us to an old house in Lavoura. Well prepared traditional Portuguese food. RESERVATION MANDATORY. Cod with cornbread, oven-roasted mendinha ribs and don't forget to try the burnt cream and Lili's pudding! If you have any dietary restrictions or are vegetarian, with reservations it is always possible to prepare a meal.

The place is not recommended for vegetarians.There were basically only side dishes, mainly chickpeas. In the end it was a good €20 per person, clearly too expensive for what was on offer. I didn't get full and we waited quite a long time.The atmosphere is nice and familiar but doesn't reflect the price either.

Discovering restaurants like this is one of the best experiences in life. The environment reflects the friendliness of the owners, providing the feeling of being in a family member's home. Even the youngest, Matilde, perfectly reflects the family’s cordiality.We celebrated a birthday during lunch and ended up ordering more food than necessary, which increased the bill a little, but we recognize that it was our responsibility, however, we considered the price to be fair in the end.Everything that came to the table, from starters, wine, dishes were incredible. I rate the experience 10/10, and I went to the place on a very rainy day, I certainly plan to return in the summer to enjoy the space even more.
