We stopped at this place today at 14:30pm. It is small and cute restaurant. It was full inside (only Portuguese people), but a table was available outside. I thought they would be closing the kitchen and maybe not accept us at that time, but they were very friendly and helpful. We had some entres - melon, farinheira and a bread from the oven, the main course we had the chicken and 2 delicious porc dishes, with migas, rice and salad. I ordered a 1/2 bottle of wine, a large bottle of water and a coke. We shared the desert ‘pao rala’ and we ordered the melon again. The food was delicious and tasteful. Simple and honest traditional food! my favorite was the fried porc… the 4 of was had enough to est and the bill was €68 in total. I would return to this place in the small village outside Elvas.

Coming here is always a most gratifying experience - all dishes are rooted on the traditional folk Alentejo food, prepared with the best local ingredients and wrapped with a lot of love. It’s not just about the food - there is always time to chat with the owner, Maria Jose Sousa, a renown chef, about the history behind each offer on the menu. For me it’s the best restaurant in Alentejo. Period. I look forward to the next pilgrimage here already!
