“It is a place to drink craft beers, which has little more than three dishes (quesadillas, tacos and burritos) if you want to have dinner, but they are amazing and are more than enough (without accompaniments that in the end you always end up leaving, such as potatoes or salad).
Very quiet atmosphere at 8pm, although I suppose it goes on for days. It is a sports bar type place, so it is not for families with children, we did go with two teenagers.
I will repeat for sure before I leave.
Wheelchair accessibility: It communicates with two streets, the lower one suitable for wheelchair access, the dining room is on that level.“

“This is definitely the best craft beer spot in the Island.
The variety and choices of beers on tap and on can is very large and good.
The quality of the beers and homemade nibbles is undeniable.
I’ve spent a week in Funchal and have been visiting Graca and Duarte every open day !
Thank you for your kindness and your very warm welcome, and for a new friendship !
I’ll be back soon

“Such a nice place, went here every night we stayed in Funchal. Very nice staff, Luke and Goncall were the nicest waiters ever. The cocktails were great, just like the street musicians who were there most of the evenings. Can’t wait to go back!“

“I haven't even been here yet, but when I arrive I'm told I must go to a Mlungu named Bernie,
Does your venue offer karaoke by any chance?
I'm bringing my wife to show her SA's best Madeiran Pub, or so I'm told.
We arrive tomorrow! Coming in hot with Amarula lust“

“We visited twice and the place really depends on who's working that day. First day was amazing but second was far from it. The waiter got the orders wrong, never cleaned up the table but just kept adding plates, leaving both empty glasses and used plates, had to ask twice for them to remove them. Took over ten minutes to get the drink menu after dinner and the two waiters blamed each other for the delay.
But the firs night was amazing service, that's the reason we came back. Hopefully they were new to the job and they will get better. Being slow and forgetting things are ok for a new person. But blaming your colleagues, being unpolite and having very little customer service is not really that good.
The food was really good and they have amazing drinks! The atmosphere is great, both nights.“

“We had a very nice experience at the hole in one. Staff has been very friendly, they were quick and even when it was really crowded for the UEFA starting game in Munich, they handled everything very well.
The place is also really nice, always felt like enjoying the evening!“
“Good location, good views of Funchal. With terrace. Regarding food, said tooth was missing and the man didn't want to give it. I didn't ask either, it's true. But the tooth is part of us Madeiran people and what makes us stand out from other places. Please don't lose this habit.“

“Prices are very low for Funchal, large portions, tasty food. Very nice service. A specific place with a characteristic atmosphere where locals eat. It happens that when you order some dishes, they are no longer available, but this is only because they were sold out that day. Therefore, everything is always fresh.“

“Very friendly bar manager. With every order you get an extremely delicious avocado garlic cheese cream with small rusk biscuits per table. The cocktails at happy hour are unbeatable in terms of price and equally unbeatable in terms of taste. For us the best bar in Oldtown. There is also the nice ambience of the small alley with the surrounding houses.
Even on my second visit, two years later, I can only speak for this bar. Another thing to add is that there is an incredibly large selection!“

“I can't recommend this bar enough, thanks to Martha and Edgar's exceptional service. If you're looking for a great atmosphere, delicious drinks, and top-notch service, be sure to visit this Irish bar and say hello to these two amazing bartenders!“
“Wednesday 13th September we were a bit weary from sightseeing about Funchal so we decided to stop here for a break. We found a empty table on the cobbled pavement, under the shade of a large umbrella. There was also seating available indoors. An attentive waiter soon came to take our order, we ordered two beers, we were offered the option of small, medium or large. We ordered two medium beers which were soon brought to our table. After a refreshing break it was time to pay and resume our sightseeing. Went inside to pay, the interior comprised of a well stocked bar with wooden stools in front of it. The were a number of tables and chairs and old brewing memorabilia was dotted around the place. We were charged €2.50 for each of the beers which was not tourist rip off prices. Good service and a nice little bar with a bit of querkyness.“

“I do not have words to explain how tasty, fresh and nice their food is. It is a place where locals eat. The waiters are so experienced that they already know what you want. You must try Espetada(meat on skewer) and for vegetarians( the special burger) on the menu. Bravo, bravo, bravo!!!“

“Bar Lounge on the theme of music, a fairly intimate atmosphere with a refined but elegant decoration. Special mention for the counter lined with bottles and large mirrors!
The cocktail menu is in the form of a mini discotheque.
I recommend the “Sweet Coffee of Mine” which is truly amazing!“

“A rustic sports and tapas bar that is a little away from the hustle and bustle of tourism and the restaurant mile. There is a very good poncha there (€2.50) and it is the best for me so far. Very friendly boss and familiar, local atmosphere - that's how you have to experience Funchal.“

“Perfect ambience, very attentive and friendly staff, beer paradise for every beer lover and, in keeping with the European Championships, there was always football going on. The bar has a certain charm and is always worth a visit when you are in Madeira.“
“Tasty, fresh food and the portion sizes were good. Plenty of space, easy access for disabled people or families with kids in a pushchair. By the main street and near city centre. Staff were nice. Great place to eat and drink for people on a budget .

“Nice restaurants with lovely singer (live music) and nice atmosphere due to the cool looking bar.
The food was good. Personally I didn't really like the beef ribs. The sauce is too sour and the braised meat is too "heavy" for 25 degree weather and then they also put the mashed corn stuff below the meat. We would eat that in winter time in the Netherlands. I could have known before I ordered but didn't expect the dish to be like this.
Anyway the salmon and pork ribs were nice. Also the chicken wings and chorizo as starters were nice (please explain that the chorizo is pre cooked to guests).
Drinks are good but the bartender especially made it even better. Very happy and friendly guy.
The other waiters did not really look like they were enjoying themselves and were not very attentive.
One tip. Use semi whipped cream with your Irish coffee. From a can with whipped cream you can't make Irish coffee..
ps. The original whiskey (couldn't find it when talking to the bartender) is Tullamore Dew.“

“Excellent. A wine bar with excellent cuisine, succulent dishes as well as being beautiful. Quality service and sea view at the end of the street. Come try?
Our budget experience will not necessarily be yours. Please note, the cheese and charcuterie board for dessert is suitable for a meal to share
Vegetarian options: Fresh salad. Delicious. My experience this evening“
“(Translated by Google) A small bar opposite the Savoy Hotel. The original owners always made us a fresh pescador poncha. However, since 2022, the owner has changed and the quality of the bar has suffered as a result. We have been there three times this year (2023), and not once did they make us a pescador. Apparently only from 9 p.m. That's why we prefer to only go to the bar 200 m above, where the pleasant owner will never turn us away.(Original)Malý bar naproti hotelu Savoy. Původní majitelé nám vždy udělali čerstvou ponchu pescador. Od r.2022 se však majitel změnil a kvalita baru tím utrpěla. Letos (2023) jsme tam byli třikrát, ani jednou nám pescador neudělali. Prý až od 21. hod. Proto chodíme raději jen do baru o 200 m výše, kde příjemná majitelka nás nikdy neodmítne.“

“The wings and fries were VERY good, although we didn't speak Portuguese, the managers were kind enough to make an effort to understand us and it was greatly appreciated. It was just very hot inside and the drinks really weren't cold“
“A small restaurant at a dead end with a magnificent view. It has a very limited menu but what they have is all homemade and cooked fresh. I especially recommend the chicken balls. The host is very friendly and loves to tell you about what to do and see in Madeira. It is very inexpensive. For four people eating and having multiple drinks we spent €50. It's a good place to go if you arrive late in the evening. It closes at 9pm. There is plenty of parking. It's very dated inside but don't let that put you off.“

“It is a place located in the heart of the town of Camara de Lobos, it has outdoor tables on the terrace, where you will have a view of the town's bay and you can eat or drink something, while you contemplate the fishermen's boats.
Good place to eat some limpets and a couple of ponchas.
Parking: Parking nearby, paid, both private and street.“

“Beautiful (inside and out) English pub in Funchal. Ideal location for a few nice beers (they also have some nice special beers) and watching a good football match. I didn't eat here (no judgement), but in terms of atmosphere and conviviality you really had a great evening here (recommendation)! The service is also very friendly and hospitable!“

“This bar was empty most of the times we walked past during our stay in Funchal few weeks ago. However it became one of our favourite drink spots as they offer shisha which we like to sometimes enjoy on our holidays. The service was average and not very engaging but never rude. For sports fans, there is a TV on the terrace.Toilets were cleaner compared to other similar establishments around. If we were to return to Funchal in the future, we would surely stop for a drink and shisha again, therefore we do recommend.“

“A must stop. They don't speak English, if you ask for an English menu they shake their heads. In a few words, they will tell you what, of course, has nothing to do with what you think. Here you really arrive in Madeira. You can eat well for cheap. It is not a place reserved for tourists. But Google is your friend, you can figure out what's going on and they don't care about you. ? Then you'll get something to eat. But you get the feeling of going to a local on Sunday. Don't ask for a cheese sandwich, because cold Gepsonka cold cheese is cold Madeira bread. But they bring it out in 1 minute.“
