Carlos was a great help in suggesting the right wine, food and things to do in Porto. Food was good and wine great. The Fado, two singers accompanied by three players, had great 3 sets. Singing between dishes. Overall an excellent experience. Restaurant was 1/2 empty (slow season). Price 120 Euros.
We visit Taberna Real do Fado to cross a good time, with our beautiful language and pur Fado. Thank you a lot for all again.
I leaned pretty heavily on tripadvisor when booking because I was a little bit sceptical about what was on offer for such a low price (3 courses - 4hrs - live music for €40 per person). I listened to the tripadvisor community and wow it paid off. The doors open bang on 1955 and you are seated. Drinks are very reasonably priced. Between courses you are wowed by the incredible performers surrounded by candle light. The atmosphere is literally AWEsome. It's a wonderful way for all languages to connect with the same appreciation for the talent on show. A must see when in Portugal should be way higher on the list of things to see/do whilst visiting.
Taberna Real do Fado is a small restaurant offering fado during dinner from 20:00 to approx. 23:30. The fado was performed by a classical trio, a singer accompanied with two musicians, one playing the Portuguese guitar, the other a classical guitar. It was the real thing! Only natural voices and instruments! The singers were two, a man and a woman, that changed roles. We were a group of 15 friends, some familiar with fado, others not. All of us enjoyed the evening greatly. The food was fine, but we were thrilled by the emotional music. The singers were good and the accompanying duo excellent.
We are not any connoisseurs of fado, but we did enjoy the performances. As a matter of fact we hoped that there would have been more music. Since many other visiters were also foreigners, we think that it would be appreciated if in the beginning someone would give a short explanation about fado. Also it would have been interesting to know at least the themes of the songs, which were presented in a very impressive way. The Taberna is not large, so if you want a good table, you should be there at the opening time. It was admirable to see, how effectively only two persons could take care of the whole service. In our opinion the quality of the food did not reach the level of music.
Excellent experience! Intimate setting with wonderful Fado singers made this a great evening. They spaced out the food service between sets, which made it a great mix of eating and enjoying the show.
One never knows the quality of the show or the meal when attending this type of experience. We were pleasantly surprised. The quality of the performances was just incredible. It featured both a male and female singer and two guitarists. The food was quite tasty and better than we had anticipated. Get there early to get a better choice of seats and make a reservation beforehand.
From the outset the service was awful. We had a booking for 8pm and in the 45 minutes we stayed we were offered a menu with no offer of a drink never mind order food. I became quite upset with being ignored so both my husband and I left after 45 minutes of no service what so ever. It seemed everyone arrived near enough the same time and most tables were occupied however besides my husband and I there was only one other table that hadn’t been served. The majority of the restaurant had starters and drinks by the time we decided to leave. I love Porto and I am so upset with the way we were made to feel not welcome and completely ignored. I have no idea what the food is like although it came highly recommended hence the reason we booked. I will never return and I would never recommend extremely disappointed.
We had a truly wonderful evening. There are so many Fado experiences touted on the streets for tourists but we found this restaurant by online reviews and were so fortunate to do so. The Taberna Real do Fado is the real deal. Run by a musician, the food and atmosphere is excellent value in itself and the musicians are outstanding. We saw two singers alternating sets between corses with a three piece guitar band. I get the impression that the most amazing of them, Paulo Cangalhas, is a regular performer there as he also waits at the tables! It’s a small venue so nobody was far from the musicians. I already loved what fado I had heard and Paulo, in particular, transported me to tears with the intensity, emotion and beauty of his voice.
Good and the food was really nice. I think I hadn’t choose the best dish but it still was pretty good. Thank you for the care and the attention

Very good snacks....
Had a wonderful evening. The meal was tasty and Fado excellent. The 3 guitarists are wonderful and Paulo is superb. Rute the other singer is also very good. Much recommended!
To be honest we were unhappy. I have to say..... All performance were great, and if you are fan of Fado, I'm sure you will be happy with it. But food was just not great, and,, cheesecake "- please... Write on your menu,, plate full of whipped cream and sauce on the top", it is a joke. They also need more staff I'd say. Just not great experience, sadly can't recommend.

This was a wonderful experience of Fado music. The singers were talented and this was a great experience even without understanding the words. The food was excellent, and the staff made substitutions to enable us to eat safely for their wonderful meal with several courses. We are both gluten free (celiac.) The staff even called a taxi for us at the close of the evening. This was the highlight of our experiences in Porto.
