The restaurant has very good reviews and we were told that this is for a reason as it is specialized in duck meat. I ordered the 1/4 duck and it was overcooked and partly black. The potatoes were nearly drowned in oil and the best part of it all were the vegetables and the very tasty rice. I think that the cook had not her/his best day.

We recently cycled from Lisbon to the Algarve and the company we cycled with (Cycling Rentals - century cycles) recommended this as a lunch stop. They recommended the duck rice which is a speciality. As we were cycling 70km we didn’t go mad so we had the quarter duck and rice for 1 but shared it. There was plenty of food for the two of us! The rice was so unusual, it was baked and had a crust on top. The whole thing was delicious! The place was packed and it was only a Monday!

Amazing restaurant where you’ll find even locals waiting in line to get a table. Great relaxing and friendly ambience. The staff is very helpful. If possible, bring some hunger and try the roasted duck.

With Tia Rosa being the top rated restaurant in Melides I guess our expectations were too high. I rate it average and give no discount for it being in a small Alentejo town by the coast, as you’ll find similar or better restaurants all over Alentejo. We had good Choco frito and Costoleta Novilho, but nothing to be thrilled over. But at least they had Sagres in the pumps, extra points for that as the pre-dinner caneca was lovely.

Our local friends chose this restaurant as it is famous for its duck dish. We ordered a whole duck "Pato assado" for 4 people which is served baked like a "Confit de Canard" with crispy skin and baked rice with duck blood. This speciality is very good indeed and nicely portioned. A nice bottle of Alentejo red wine Sobroso Reserva complemented our meal. Overall a nice place to try if you happen to visit Melides.
