“Only to comment WRONG TRANSLATION Portuguese to English:When you read SHOES it refers to BROWN CRAB/DEVON CRAB ie. "boiled shoes" boiled crabs or "abrir as sapateiras" "open the shoe racks" refers to opening the boiled crabs to see if they are full.“

“Absolutely magical! Mom and pop shop serving delicious grilled fish and chicken at reasonable prices in a down to earth setting and style. One of my favorite meals on my trip and I send mg best wishes to the family who owns and operates this restaurant.“

“A Colmeia is a very relaxed place to eat. The staff are helpful and friendly, guiding us through the menu and accommodating of our lack of Portuguese language skills. The food is fresh and tasty and exceptional value. We went at lunchtime and chose the option with four dishes, salad and juice for 8EUR. There were plenty of dishes to choose from, all really healthy and tasty. The dining space is bright and clean with views down to the river. Well worth a visit.“

“This fab little restaurant blew our minds! In a country where it’s so hard to find even basic vegetarian food, one really doesn’t expect to find excellent vegetarian dishes, but this place just nailed it. I had the quiche, which was sort of more like a vegetable flan. The flavour was rich and complex, very yummy indeed. I didn’t know until speaking with the server after the meal that it was vegan. (I’m a bit of a meat-eating vegan food sceptic. :) My vegetarian partner had the mushroom toast and said it was great. The passion fruit cake was so good we ordered a second portion to go. Enormous portions, original \\u0026 well thought out recipes, reasonable pricing, excellent service and funky decor. It’s a fair sized restaurant but it has a keen following so best to book. (We had to come back an hour later to get a table at 2pm.) Definitely worth a visit whether you’re a vegetarian or not.“
