This place is a 5*.If you fancy simple, traditional, good quality and very generous food then you'll be happy. We ordered their speciality Cataplana (mixed seafood casserole) for two. Yes they took 45 mins to cook it at a busy lunch, though 100% worth the wait. The bowl was stuffed full of 2x whole bream/dorada, 4x big Tiger prawns plus clams, potatoes and veg. Everything was cooked perfectly and most importantly, a rich stock... So rich that we ended up ordering bread so we could mop the bowl clean.It even had the added benefit of my girlfriend not speaking for 30 mins, just positive noises from the other side of the table as she wiped every last drop from the bowl..Ignore the silly 1* and 2* reviews for serrvice being slower at lunch in peak season or card payments needing a €20 spend.5*.

We were last Sunday, at the end of March, in Tavira and we ate at Filomena. I really liked everything we tried. The sardines were very fresh. We also ordered tuna, rice with seafood and grilled cod and I recommend all of these dishes 100%, in our opinion everything was very delicious. Finally we had a very good Amarguinha liqueur. The waitress very friendly and attentive. And the waiter who served us with the liquor was also very friendly. In general everything was very good, and good quality/price.

We still let ourselves be tempted by the unusual place and we were not disappointed.Reasonable prices, typical Portuguese quality dishes, we let ourselves be tempted by the chef's suggestion and we had the sea bream for 2, a real success.The waiter took a little time before smiling, but he was as nice as ever and very helpful.Thank you.

The cold welcome without a smile... nauseating smell where we were sitting, more than 40 minutes to prepare two unfortunate boards charged at €12.50 each...
