Let me start by saying the clams are excellent here. Really busy, so would reccomend reserving. Understaffed when we visited, which means the waiter was rushed off his feet and treated us with some disdain for being there. Very special setting in scenic street.

WWe ordered two Menu del Dia. However, excessive individual dish prices were charged. We found it to be a typical tourist rip-off.
Was very good and good service. We had rabbit and steak and was good and the price was the average in tavira
Wanted a typical Portuguese meal in place more frequented by the locals rather than tourists. This was the place. Terrific food topped off by a nice glass of an Algarve red house wine. Staff were great to meet and offered some nice local places to visit. Loved these guys and their restaurant.
Wonderful place that seems where locals eat. The Catalana should not be missed. Also loved the 5euro 1/2 liter of red house wine :)
Kid-friendliness: Kids are def welcome but don’t think they have special options

Again, a very nice meal. However, there are a few negatives beginning to creep into the experience. Firstly staff, there is now a constant atmosphere of upselling at every opportunity for both food and drink and it’s becoming very tiresome and irritating. It almost feels coordinated between all staff as they bring unwanted extras, not ordered, and continually check your drink requirements, albeit they are as courteous as ever. Just leave us alone until we need you! Secondly, sadly price increases on food have become substantial, so it’s no longer the good value it once was. Still worth a visit though, just.

Our landlady had recommended this place as one where locals went and this proved to the case. The first time we went it seemed hopelessly crowded, but somehow another table was whisked out in the alleys running alongside the fairly small interior. Our servers were two Nepalese brothers who provided wonderful service under pressure, while never seeming flustered, always finding time for a chat. The food was very good, typifying the Portuguese hallmark of simple food, well cooked and presented and with a very laid back feel. We ate several times here and some of the dishes were so good that it was difficult to force yourself to try something different. Among many crackers were pork cheeks. monkfish rice and the traditional pork and clams, the best I'd eaten outside of Olhao. This place is well worth a try, but maybe it would be wise to reserve.
Nice local food, the specialities are worth to try. Good prices and nice staff. Been here twice while staying in Tavirna. Most of the time fully booked or come early or make a reservation.
We had lunch there today and the food and service were fantastic. We couldn't have been better taken care of and the food was so good that we reserved for dinner this Saturday. I read the few 1 star reviews and have to think they were at a different restaurant. We have nothing to complain about just praise. Definitely try it and ignore the few bad reviews.

I have dined here many times and have had lovely meals, and memories with my partner who has since died. Tonight as a woman on my own, I didn’t feel welcome. It’s very hard dining alone and restaurants should consider their solo diners rather than focusing on the empty cover going to waste. I was there approximately 30 minutes. I always tip and tonight I couldn’t. Very disappointing experience and very sad for my past memories.
Great spot and lovely food - always busy but always manage to get a table. Very popular. Staff attentive and good was very good.
Ate here twice in Aug/Sep. Trying to get the bill on the first night was difficult as the restaurant was so busy (Sunday) but no issues at all during the following visit. Food excellent. Monkfish rice had plenty of monkfish and it was overall amazing. Black pork was also excellent and on the 2nd visit the Catalaplana was great too. The prawns were huge and delicious. The table next to us were commenting on the freshness of the oysters and ordered a second platter. Have been eating here for years and never been disappointed. You’re basically sitting in an alleyway but it’s pleasant and sociable.
AWFUL. Cheese omelette - turned out with ham. 31 years vegetarian. Nothing off the bill. Awful experience which they could have easily made better. We’re not complainers but this way we’ll out of order.
We had a very pleasant and enjoyable dinner. I had the Monkfish and Rice and my wife had Iberian Pork. The waiter was very helpful in recommending a local Tavira wine which complemented our dinner.
