Coincidentally the town was having a party, which we discovered when we took the car to get closer to the center after lunch. So we did well in choosing this place to eat and only because of the location, a quiet place with no problems to park the car and not far from the center. The food was spectacular and the attention of the waiters impeccable. We ordered cod in two ways, the one I chose was lighter, with vegetables and boiled potatoes as well as chickpeas. All delicious. In Portugal it is not necessary to ask for first and second places, as we are used to in Spain. The dishes go very well together. However, we ordered a starter salad to share, which was very tasty, with fresh, green lettuce. It included cucumber, but well, although it is not very to my liking, I ate it with pleasure. One hundred percent recommended.

Restaurante As Quatro Colunas is a medium-sized restaurant in a square in Viana do Castelo, not exactly in the historic center of the city but in a very quiet place, in the Meadela area, where you can easily find a parking space (which is not a detail recently in Viana...). The restaurant is run by an extremely kind elderly man, apparently serious but very nice, and a young man (perhaps his son?) who is also very nice and friendly. The dishes are traditional in the north of Portugal and do not disappoint. We had dinner twice at this restaurant, always the only Italians in the place and were really impressed.
