“This place is a bit hard to find if you aren’t looking for it. A local told us about it and actually made the reservation for us. It was a 6 course meal they call “moments”, all chefs choice. At the beginning we were asked if there were any allergies or restrictions. Oranges are the only thing on that list. This is elegant service with each fork and knife being removed after each course. There was a real fireplace burning. The waiter explained each dish in perfect English. The restaurant is part of a small family farm and vegetables and fruit are from that farm. We had delicious dishes of vegetables, meat, and fish. Dessert was light and refreshing and we left very full. Everything was beautiful and prepared well. Please go here!“

“A hidden gem tucked away in Guimarães, with the most beautiful little terrace to soak up the sunshine.
The restaurant is trendy and modern with gorgeous interiors. The staff are so friendly and the food was AMAZING!! We had their set lunch menu and the shrimp tacos were unreal. Highly recommend visiting and hoping we can squeeze in another visit before we fly home!“

“Fantastic place, excellent service, five-star service, especially the owner who is incredibly friendly and attentive.
Our choice was a steak au pepper and a chunk of it was empty. The meat is of high quality and cooked to perfection.

“I've known Café Oscar since 1999, when I arrived in Portugal...from England. It's changed its image in recent years... now it's much more chic. But prices remain reasonable.I don't think there is another cafe in Guimarāes that compares to this one. Reminds us of la belle époque. ?“

“I had the pleasure of dining at Quinta da Lama, a former olive oil mill that has been transformed into a delightful restaurant. The place exudes a cozy and rustic charm, with clay pots and vintage stone adorning the dining room. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, from traditional Portuguese cuisine to Mediterranean and European influences. I opted for the “posta à lagar”, a succulent tenderloin steak cooked in olive oil and garlic, and the cod with cornbread, a classic Portuguese dish that was moist and flavorful. Both dishes were exquisite and prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. The salads and bread were also very good. For dessert, I indulged in the “leite creme”, a creamy custard with a caramelized crust. It was heavenly, one of the best I ever had. I also enjoyed the house wine, a local red wine that complemented the food perfectly. The service was impeccable and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. I had a splendid time at Quinta da Lama and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience in Amarante.“

“Excellent restaurant at all levels. From welcoming customers to farewell. Always attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is great and with very generous portions. Good wine, good room close to the city center of Guimarães (by car), but far enough away to not feel the typical service for tourists where you don't feel the homely touch. Beautiful family dinner.“

“Tasca with a good atmosphere, always with fado music at a very pleasant volume, very friendly service and attentive to customer needs. As for food, for those who like tapas this is the best place to eat, worth every euro spent. Very tasty food, excellent quality, excellent prices for the quality it offers. Without a doubt, it is one of the best restaurants in Felgueiras for tapas. This is the second time I've been there and I will definitely go back. The prices range from €15 to €30 (although I entered 20-25), as it will always depend on the amount of food you order, the first time I paid €31, the second time I paid €19.. The dish What I recommend trying are the nails in the bread that are in the photo, you will certainly like them.
Parking: Sometimes you can find parking in front of the restaurant's door, sometimes you have to leave it a little further away but only 100m away, until it's quite close.“

“I stopped by Penafiel by chance and stumbled upon Ze Gusto. What a wonderful surprise! I tried the daily special, which was a tender and juicy cut of tuna accompanied by thin and crispy homemade fries. The wine list looks amazing as well. I highly recommend this place, 100%.“

“Attention and waiting times to be served perfect. Nothing to say either about the food, very delicious.
The only drawback that the place has for me and for which I do not give 5 stars is that in practically all the dishes the price is given based on weight (for example steak €40/kilo). This means that you don't really know what the price of a portion is and that when you get the bill you don't know if they are charging you right or wrong since you never know the weight of the piece that has been served to you. It is a topic that I did not like at all since it is always up to the restaurant to charge you one price or another since no one tells you what is the weight of the piece that they are going to serve you. Very limited menu and practically all dishes priced at €40 - €45/kilo.“

“I would say that it is almost the best sushi I have ever tried in my life. Since we were in Portugal we wanted to have something more traditional but we ended up here and we couldn't be happier. The sushi was delicious and they did very good service, the buffet price is GREAT!
Vegetarian options: If you tell them that you are vegetarian, they will make you a more personalized sushi for you, this is what they did for my friend who was delighted.“

“I really liked! We ate garlic bread with cheese and bacon, the potatoes with cheddar cheese and bacon are incredibly good, I had a spectacular Calzone that I loved, and the kinder bueno cheesecake dessert is good. But the crepes are divine! I went with a group of friends, the atmosphere is good for talking and hanging out, and the staff are very friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, it is, there is Portuguese pavement around it but the entrance is level.“

“Small, family-run restaurant frequented mainly by locals, menu with various tapas and local dishes.
We tasted several things and accompanied everything with some house wine. It was all very good.
Fast but attentive service. Incredibly low prices even considering the quality of what we ate.

Service, food, atmosphere 5*
The garlic bread with bacon is very good, as are the pizzas and passion fruit sangria. We loved it again and totally recommend it.
There is parking at the door.
Super nice terrace.“

“We stumbled upon this restaurant through the good reviews it has on Tripadvisor. And it lived up to every single one of them! The food is great. We ordered some different dishes to share and everything was really tasty. Our favorites were the pork cheek, polvo, shiitake and the smoked chorizo. Also, the staff is amazing. They had great recommendations, were super friendly and made sure we had a good time. We had the privilege to go there twice and it was a pleasure. From the outside it may look a bit unassuming but don’t let that fool you. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.“

“Very surprised by everything in this beautiful space, simply fantastic service, the food was well prepared and delicious, I really liked the oriental mushrooms" for their sweet and sour flavor which I'm a fan of, all the tapas we tried were wonderful, we will definitely try more dishes again❤️❤️“

“In the city center we discovered this excellent restaurant that welcomed us very warmly. We chose a table on the balcony which gave our dinner a fresh feel.
The food was excellent, with simple things but very well combined, for example, mushrooms with cheese and a touch of mint....... Desserts follow the same policy.
Place to consider whenever you return to Amarante“

“The food is well made with a very good flavor but the problem is that a portion is secretly €25, supposedly designed for 2 people, we eat that portion practically alone, which we thought was not enough for 2 and that it comes accompanied by rice To all this we ordered chicken wings, scrambled eggs, ham and cheese board, to distribute to 5 adults, 2 babies and 2 children, all very delicious.
It is recommended to go early since at 10:30 p.m. we were alone in the place and with the owners who wanted to clean and close but I think that was our fault since we are not used to having dinner so early.“
“i had a wonderful dinner at Dona Francesinha Porto ♥️ the food was great (i had the classic francesinha and couldn’t finish it because it is so big) and the sparkling sangria is a must have! amazing desserts as well, everything was perfect. shoutout to Joana my waiter who is such a lovely spirit ??“

“Today for lunch was my first time at Cancela Velha. It was busy but no waiting, seated immediately. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Was with my brother and our Portuguese language teacher. We all ordered the soup (nabissa), breads and olives and cheese appetizers, bacalhau cakes, daily special (pescado and arroz com gelho). Appetizers, soup, and daily fish and rice specials were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the rice. We ordered some traditional deserts, natas de ceu, pudin, bolo traditional. Deserts were delicious especially the natas de ceu. We ordered an apple turnover to take home for our mom. Our server said “warm it slightly and serve with ice cream”, which of course we did. Our mom is 92 and she has tried a lot of apple turnovers in her 9+ decades, and she said “this is the best I have tasted, get more next time please.” Overall an excellent experience and since we are now locals, we will be back again!“

“We ordered the famous "Posta de Vitela" and it was very good. Very tasty and good quantity. The owners are very friendly. Of course, you have to bring cash because they do not accept credit cards. For my taste, the price of food and drinks is a little high considering the location.“

“Excellent pizzeria with many options in the center of Penafiel. Wide variety of pizzas and pastas, as well as affordable daily rates, starting at €5.50 during the week. Wonderful service, impeccable staff! The terrace has an extra refinement! It's worth knowing and enjoying. White wine sangria is a plus! I highly recommend it.“
“Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Super friendly and attentive staff. From what I've tried, I recommend cracked eggs because they innovate the recipe and add the possibility of a sauce that is very tasty. In the Francesinha part, I didn't like the constitution or the sauce but it's a personal taste, I appreciate spicy and vibrant sauces as well as sweet ones. The dessert, surreally delicious and creamy! My popcorn loved the burger which was actually quite filling for a children's menu!!
Super recommended and thank you for the service “

“This place gets a lot of attention on YouTube, so we gave it a go. It’s a bit claustrophobic, the tables are fairly close together, so if you like your space this mightn’t be for you. The food was top notch and the staff were friendly, so top marks here!“

“Dîner vraiment très bien. La prestation est loins des standards portugais. Nous sommes là sur de la qualité autant sur le service que sur la nourriture et cerise sur le gâteau maintenant que la rue est devenue piétonne le cadre est encore mieux. “(Translated by Google) A very welcoming place to try the best convent sweets in Amarante! ????It was in this tiny but super cozy teahouse (which even looks like a doll's house), that we ate 3 of the most typical conventual sweets from the north of our country: Lérias, rockets and Tâmega breezes.Overlooking the river itself and very well received by an employee who was kind enough to tell us a little about each one of them. You can see that here all the sweets are made with care and attention that is different from all the other pastry shops we went to in Amarante :)The biggest highlight goes to the Lérias (I'm suspicious because a good almond always comes in handy)! There was still to be tasted the famous papos de Anjo, and São Gonçalo - which will certainly stay for a next time ????Ps. I also highlight the phallic sweet, which contrary to the traditional and what you see in other pastry shops, is not made with a hard and dry dough, but with an “eclair” style dough.(Original)Um sítio muito acolhedor para experimentar os melhores doces conventuais de Amarante!
