On the plus side : location, view, kindness of the waiters & price of the drinks. On the negative side : the price of the food! We wanted to eat fish and the waiter asked us if we wanted grilled fresh fish but he never mentioned the price : 60€ for a simple grilled fish for 2! On the menu, the prices were around 16€ per person so we never thought they would ask that amount! They doubled the price! It’s not even a fancy restaurant! Never again for us.

Taste is picturesque and a meeting point, always with stories and news, between scratch cards with a prize and others with other luck... Dona Rosa enchants me for its simplicity and intelligence over the years, it probably has the best and tastiest coffee in a little-known brand. da Vila, in a good location, and also providing a public service by giving information to those who pass by, I've been here for 3 months and I enjoy being there.

Training to staff is urgent! Asked where I could sit, they told me to sit wherever was free, took the seat right in front of me. Then saw the table was reserved to less than half an hour later (considering I was having an appetizer and then lunch, wouldn't do), then I asked for a non reserved table, they asked to go to a corner, I went, then told me you can only use one table (I was using only one) and got me up to take apart two tables (they sent me there!), I asked for an appetizer and the menu "is too early to lunch, we serve in 20 minutes" yes, but I want to check what they have before... What is the dam problem... Then another colleague came and told me I had to switch places again, I complained it was the third time and he answers he needs to manage reservations, understandable but manage before asking me to sit somewhere on the first time, or second and certainly don't make me get up the third time. Of course I got up and went somewhere else (much nicer and great food). These guys? I would not hire for a spit contest, let alone to serve lunch. There are wonderful places in Portugal, don't get deceived, leave this guy's to bankrupt.

I think this restaurant is a bit like the (in)famous Wong Kei’s in China Town, London in that it makes abrasive service a “feature”. Most other places in the area and Portugal as a whole speak excellent English given their dependence on tourism. Not here. You need to navigate the smartphone menu from the 2D bar code and point to pictures of everything you want. The food itself is average at best, reminiscent of a works cafeteria rather than a seaside restaurant. However I think if you stick to local seafood and the restaurant isn’t too busy you should be OK. The location and sea views are superb.

Was staying in Cascais and walked the promenade everyday, the weather was good and one day stopped for a beer, we had 6 of them €12. The fish looked great and went back the following day. Had sardines one day, had grilled prawns (gambas) the 3rd day. As good as I have had both days!!! The prawns are not cheap but potentially the best I have eaten!! ( share the honour with Cape Town). The pics do not do them justice!!!!! They made the holiday, sitting in late October sunshine !!!

Found this wonderful totally authentic Portuguese restaurant by chance walking by. Spectacular view overlooking the sea. Very busy restaurant .mostly locals dining..Food was so fresh and delicious. We had bread basket, gorgeous olives to start followed by mackerel.. best I’ve ever tasted., side salad and two desserts ( mango mousse was divine!) two coffees and half bottle of Rosè.. all for 50 euro! Staff were very busy but so efficient and friendly. Best meal of our holiday.

Stopped after a stroll on the beach, a beer and a burger for me. Probably the most tasteless food I've started to eat for sometime, could not finish, the fries were mainly cold and the waiter seemed totally disinterested Definitely not recommended
