Praça Velha continues to be our go-to restaurant for the prato do dia. Every day, there is a meat or fish dish that is accompanied by salad and potatoes or rice. The meal is started with fresh soup and includes coffee and a dessert (often fresh fruit, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, or baked cinnamon apple). The prato do dia is always a very-reasonable price and the owners and servers are excellent. You really feel at home here, as they treat each diner with respect. The food is always fresh! It is an easy walk from the main street (one block from the market area) and is nestled in a quaint street. There are about 12 tables for four, one table for 8 or 9, and numerous patio tables.

We had intended to go to a different restaurant, but they were closed for lunch. The owner of the other place recommended this one and we couldn't have been more delighted with the food, service, and atmosphere. There was no "menu", just the plates of the day. I got the grilled pork chop and my friend got the squid. Both were extremely tasty. I have marked the location in case I end up in the area again. Highly recommend.
Tasty and well prepared food, generous quantity. The only thing to point out, the drinks took a while to be served compared to the starters. Cozy place and respectful staff.
