“There were 7 of us and we ate ham and cod à Brás. The ham was exceptional, caramelized and tender, accompanied by roast potatoes, perfectly cooked. The wine was a Cabriz. The room is modest, but the friendliness and “welcome” make up for it.“

“I had a vegetarian menu and was very impressed with how much they adapted the menu. I didn’t feel like I was missing out at all with every dish feeling similar/comparable to my partner who was eating meat and fish. There was one course that was disappointing and had too much salt for my taste, but overall an outstanding experience with far more food than is on the menu!! 6 courses was more like 10.“

“We arrived here “by chance” when visiting Nelas.
Very well maintained space.
Restaurant with great food and very pleasant and efficient service.
We ate lamb which was very good.
The other options we saw at the tables next to us also looked very good.
We tried the Pedra Cancela reserve which proved to be very worthy of the meal.
At the end we stopped by the store (very well attended, by the way) and took the opportunity to bring some “samples to analyze”

“Nice authentic Portuguese restaurant. Nice interior, although bit outdated at some points. Friendly staff,very straight forward and no posh. Simply lovely. Food is good:nice portions and tastefull. The big bummer are the table stands/holders for the salt & pepper (rusty!!) and also the ones for vinegar and oil (paint fell off) ...they really need to be replaced.. (see photos)“

“Nice restaurant with delicious food. The portions are huge and there is a lot of choice. Goat, sheep, beef and for those who want there is fish. You will receive delicious bread in advance, with olives and cheese/meat from the region. The ambiance is classic Portuguese and that makes it very cozy. They are also extremely friendly to children. And all for a friendly price. In short, highly recommended.“

Surrounding parts clean and organized. It has a common kitchen and a table on the street that you can use for meals. At the door of each room there is a table and chairs that can be used to enjoy the outdoor/dining space. I recommend it for rest and relaxation.

“Bad service, there was no reservation, however as a customer I went and asked for a table for 3 people, Mr Jacinto, who up until now had my regard, didn't have the best attitude and with a lot of contempt he didn't even consider arranging a table. solution (terrace, for example)

“The food was good, the service good, music good. Constructive criticism is:- Do not put beer in wine glasses or water in wine glasses. Use the correct vessel- it makes a world of difference. The waiter also seemed a little hurried although the restaurant wasn’t busy!“

“Despite booking online through on OpenTable they didn't have our booking. That didn't matter as it was a 5.00pm pre theatre booking so we were the only ones there when we arrived. However what did matter was that on the booking they asked what was the occasion, so our occasion was not acknowledged as it had been in Boulevard Brasserie restaurant. We ordered the charred cauliflower (which is a whole cauliflower so a bit big for 2 of us) and the prawns and the half chicken piri piri and the tomato salad (nicest tomatoes ever!) . The menu actually says the small plates will arrive first and then the chicken and sides so we were surprised when all arrived together. They didn't have our first choice of wine and recommended another and offered a sample. That was a good idea as we disliked the sample so chose another one. We had a very nice young lady serve us who was new as we saw another waitress teach her how to open a bottle of wine at another couples table..hardly the place to do staff training? The place started to fill up as we were leaving so the ambience increased. One thing I would mention is that a lot of the restaurants in the area are blocked from evening sun because of their positioning in a type of square surrounded by very tall buildings, so this may be important if you want to sit in the sun.“
