A beautiful terrace overlooking the small pedestrian square of the cultural center, with a lovely view of the bridge and the old town. Perfect service, classic dishes for the area but very well prepared with good products. Music in season apparently.

We saw Golden Catch the first time we walked around WoW and ate at Root & Vine next door to it. We wanted to come back for the sunset view of the city. There are plenty of tables indoor and outdoor with a spectacular view of the city and Ponte Luiz. The server offered the excellent balinhos de bacalhau (fish cakes) as an alternative to bread and olives. We saw many raving reviews for sea bass served with truffle oil mashed potatoes, which we must echo the voices. We also ordered a rump steak. So tender and no need for any sauce. For desserts we ordered a Golden Cup, which was one of the best sundae ice cream we ever had and a curd cheese cake, served with pumpkin jam and mandarine sorbet. Very happy with this meal indeed!

By far the best food we had in Porto! Excellent for a last evening to close off your vacation. The custody among the waiters was grand.

We had a last minute recommendation to grab dinner at Golden Catch. I was worried that we couldn’t get a table. 7:30pm was booked, so I choose an 8pm reservation. We got there early, and found that it was largely empty. We were sat immediately. Our server was fantastically friendly, joking with our distracted son. We ordered the couvert - dinner roll was a hit, the cornbread not so much, olives and butter compound were great. I ordered the sea bass, tasty but small, that sat on mashed potatoes, which was a favorite for me and my wife. My wife ordered the rump (beef) medium rare. Like most steak lovers, we can be particular. The beef wasn’t seared much, not enough seasoning, a little too chewy. With some salt and pepper brought to the table, I though it was a decent steak. My wife didn’t like it. My son ordered the spaghetti from the kids menu. He LOVED it, and declared it to be his 2nd most favorite meal ever.

It left something to be desired.
Service is friendly, but slow. We were assisted by 4 different employees, and most of them were not very informative.
On the menu, in the drinks section, they advertise “fruit juices” which, after ordering, we realize are soft drinks; the cans had already been opened before arriving at the table… we didn't like the flavors.
For starters we ordered the Hummus, which was very good, the best I've ever eaten.
For the main dish we ordered Rodovalho to share between 2 people. The fish was well served, but in disproportionate quantity; Whoever is serving the table and taking orders must have the common sense and be careful to warn that there will be enough for 4 people at will. However, as a side dish, 6 potatoes, 2 cherry tomatoes and a pak choi leaf were served. The fish is enough for at least 4 people, but the side dish isn't even enough for 1. Eventually, I ended up eating fish with fish.
For dessert I ordered Tatin, which was well presented, well served and tasty, light.
Vegetarian options: There are several vegetarian options.

We got the hot seafood platter. Perhaps it was just the wrong thing to order. The table next to us had this grilled fish which looked amazing. Clams were extremely sandy and over cooked. Mussels were practically none existent. Tiger prawns were over cooked. The fried shrimps were good. I call this place the SoDoSoPa of Porto ?

Worst port experience. Big tourist trap!!!
30min for oysters followed by 30min for ceviche. Not incredible dish. Invoicing for unordered products!
100 euros for 2.
In short, I do not recommend...

We came upon Golden Catch on a leisurely walk around Gaia and how glad we did. Having just spent nine days in Lyon and enjoying quite a few Michelin starred restaurants, we thought we had stumbled in to another one.
The food was fantastic and the options were plentiful. I had the ceviche which was fresh and had wonderful zesty taste in the mouth. My wife had the falafel as a starter and loved it. Again, fresh with a great depth of flavour.
For mains we had the sea bass and beetroot risotto. Both were exceptional. The sea bass was served over a creamy truffle mash potato which added a nice balance to the crispy skin fish. The beetroot risotto, something we’ve never heard of before was delicately flavoured and the nuttiness of the rice was balanced with the beetroot.
Our waiter, which I’m sorry to say I missed his name when he introduced himself, was very helpful, particularly in pairing our wine with the dishes. A great asset to Golden Catch and ambassador for Gaia and Portugal.
