Firstly, the food was quite good, but the overall experience was poor. There were only a few outside tables taken when we arrived, but the one waitress was deep in conversation with someone - we had to get our own menus and the guy doing the barbecue had to come over to set the table. Eventually we were able to order but when the grilled food had been prepared the waitress had found a guy in a car to have another endless conversation with, resulting in the food being lukewarm when she finally brought it. The fish, at 16 euros with chips, was not much bigger than a sardine, but the seafood skewer was large and good. Inevitably, the bill and coffee never came so I had to go inside to get them. The price was roughly what I expected so I paid despite no bill being offered, but when I did get the bill later I noticed two extra items had been added. Pity, it is a nice setting and I live close by, but we don't need to go back.

Gorgeous lunch here today. Fab fresh fish, great service and views of river. Looks to be a small family run business with many locals eating there. We had sardines and potatoes but were given fish cakes as an appetiser with olives and delicious bread. Excellent food and excellent value.u

Final day in Porto and I had chosen to try Contramar food as this was the closest restaurant from the hotel and the one playing lovely old Portuguese songs with their outer Seafood BBQ. Ambience outside was wow, service 10/10 as the man service us had such a chilled out vibe whistling his way with a happy face. The lady serving us was very kind and humble. Food was finger licking and well presented. I ordered all the seafood dishes at the restaurant as we are a big family and seafood lovers. This restaurant is run by two brothers and they are ever so kind and helpful. This was our best meal in all the places we have visited on our trip (Porto, Coimbra, Fatima, Lisbon and Vigo Spain). I would recommend this place for everyone to try the local seafood and my best wishes to the brothers. Thanks you for having us and making our birthday very memorable. May the blessings of St Anthony be with you all.
