First restaurant in Porto, we wanted to try an authentic Francesinha and we followed the advice.
Honestly not disappointed at all, the atmosphere is incredible in this wooden tavern, with the wood-fired oven it's great.
The magical kitchen ?

Walking from a very far distance, so that on a Wednesday during normal service hours it was closed and asked if they were going to open even though it was 1:15 pm and it should have been open before.

The next day I happened to pass by at night and now it was open, so my rating is for this visit (even though they made me miss a trip here and change my plans).
We tried the francesinha and the lasagna, both great, everything was very good.
The attention a little dry.

Good value for money, delicious food especially the francesinha with the potatoes and sauce on the side.
A little hidden so it wasn't very busy.

A super nice place, the francesinha was spectacular!!!! The francesinha is made in the oven, the sauce came separately and was really good. The sparkling wine sangria is also very good.
The place is very well decorated, I really liked it. There is a paid car park right next to the restaurant, it is super practical.
I definitely recommend going there and enjoying a beautiful and excellent francesinha!!!!
And then take the opportunity to take a beautiful walk along the Gaia waterfront, take some photos of the riverside of the port, the bridge d. Luís, with boats and rebels, is a super pleasant place to have a good time and walk.

Waited from 7:30pm to 9pm on a Thursday, a day where it should clearly be opened and it was closed.

Tried to email them to clarify before leaving this review, the email address on the website doesn't work. So, here I am.

They make everything in a wood oven...they don't have much variety but what they do have is delicious.

Our visit to Tappas Caffé Regional, in Vila Nova de Gaia, was a memorable experience that deserves to be shared. From the moment we entered, we were enveloped by a welcoming atmosphere, where the rustic architecture immediately stood out. The exposed stone walls and carefully preserved details give the space a unique charm, creating an environment that is both welcoming and sophisticated.

The food, a true celebration of regional flavors, was simply delicious. Each dish was a discovery of aromas and textures, prepared with a skill that we only find in places that respect culinary tradition. The presentation was impeccable, and the ideal temperature of the food made each bite an experience to remember. The dishes arrived steaming hot at the table, a clear sign of the freshness and speed of the service.

The service was another highlight of our visit. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, contributing to a flawless dining experience. The friendliness and efficiency of the service perfectly complemented the quality of the dishes served.

In short, Tappas Caffé Regional is an establishment that honors Portuguese cuisine and provides its visitors with an authentic and memorable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality meal in Vila Nova de Gaia. Our visit was a true delight, and we can't wait to return.
