Visited several times during our holiday, and it was always packed with locals having breakfast and coffee. Everyone who served us was friendly and tried their best to communicate in English. We tried several types of pastries and biscuits, and they were all excellent. The Bolo Rei with dried fruit and nuts, in particular, was outstanding (so good we bought more to take home). The only small issue was getting overcharged on one visit: we got four miniature pastries and found five on our bill. Probably a honest mistake, as the staff members' process seems to be remembering your order off the top of their head when you go to pay. We noticed too late and the amount was very low, good reminder to double-check the bill though.

Pastry shop in the center of Porto. Very good cakes. The coffee was very light, not too strong for my taste. The pleasant waiter.

I give it one star because I can't give it zero, an absurdly terrible experience. Starting with the food, which is nothing special and ending with the unfriendly and surly man at the counter, I feel sorry for the ladies at the service who have to work with such a despicable person, total disorganization due to him and his gratuitous implication. Terrible!

We were staying nearby during our very first visit to Portugal and discovered this nice cafe as we were walking around. We love the coffee, the pastries as well the the service. We also had lunch and the glass of wine is very generous too. Highly recommended and will definitely return when we're in Porto again.

When we arrived at this bakery/restaurant, we asked if they had francesinha. They said yes. When the "francesinha" arrived, it consisted of two slices of bread soaked in sauce and a slice of stewed meat that was in the display of the dish of the day. Three pieces of raw bacon and 1 slice of cheese and another of ham. One of the francesinhas even brought a toast, pieces of carrot from the stew. Caricatured situation. We feel deceived. It would have been better to say that they didn't have Francesinha and we would have eaten something else. To make up for the situation, the man didn't charge us for drinks, which was also funny because we paid more for a tricky sandwich than if we had eaten the dish of the day. Anyway...

Great tasty breakfast. Delicious coffee, nice to have breakfast in the morning among mainly Portuguese people.

I come here every now and then, it's a historic place, but without infamy or praise. For the coffee it's great, but for the food part it's too inconsistent, sometimes it brings out extraordinary goodies, other times (like yesterday) you ask for a cheese sandwich and the bread seems old.

The clerk was kind! The bacon bread was soggy inside and looked overcooked. It was crowded with people, but it might not have been that delicious.
