Very pleasant space for a terrace (especially in the summer) to drink a few beers and socialize. The esllana is very well located, in the middle of Praça da República. I only consumed beers but the establishment also serves meals! Very friendly, hard-working and attentive staff. I highly recommend coming.

We came to have an aperitif with the family. We ordered 9 drinks and during service we noticed an error in 1 drink (who is to blame? us? his?), which we reported to the waiter and then... it's a tragedy! We suffered this man's anger and he said that now we will have to consume the wrong drink. We were shocked by this excessive reaction and the lack of respect he showed. To end it, we actually had to drink the wrong drink, and pay the bill of €62. Very disappointed and humiliated by this experience, we will never go back there and do not recommend this place.

You might want to avoid, if you don’t like encountering racism on your holidays. From the start very unfriendly waiter, then quickly telling us “go eat in your country”, when he clearly got our orders wrong. Unacceptable. We paid and left, as he ruined our appetite and our afternoon. Staff supervisor apologised a lot, repeating that they’re not a racist place, but when an employee that represents you, acts in a racist manner, you honestly cannot claim to be otherwise.

First and last time at this establishment, even if there was no other solution, I WOULD NOT RETURN AT ALL. Terrible service, employees clearly notice that they are fed up with their work. Food, quality 0. I have never eaten so badly in a Portuguese restaurant/cafe. One of those frozen burgers, the egg was almost burnt, and the quality of the burger itself is terrible, the nail too, from the bread to the meat, never to be returned.
