Joe Smoked Meat - Baie-Saint-Paul

Simple smoked meat sandwiches. Le sandwich is meat only (a lot!) on rye bread, mustard with a pickle. Plate with the coleslaw is good. No fries. Great atmosphere, old school jazz blues music playing and there were a bunch of people sitting at the counter. Our waitress Karen was great - super friendly, funny and put up with my atrocious (and lack of) French. Highly recommend for a relaxed meal with a cool vibe.

While true Montreal smoked meat is more to my liking Joe's is a 4 star second best. And you cannot beat the atmosphere dans le village de Baie-Saint-Paul.

Nice place to eat in a small group of 6 in a relaxed atmosphere. Smoked meat not annoying. Good coleslaw and good pickle. I would have had more pickles on my plate.

The reception from the kitchen upon returning, the management of the tables, it was very professional.

We all took the garnished plate. The chips are really really salty. I imagine a really fresh bread would have been better.

Overall, the smoked meat was very good.

When I was told by a local Montréaler that this place is better than the places in Montreal I was astonished! This place lived to its reputation! I would highly recommend getting lunch here during your stay or like me make it your foodie stop before you hit the road! You will not regret it!

Weekend for my birthday with my 2 big daughters, my 15 month old granddaughter and my partner. Excited to return to this restaurant. It's mid-afternoon, we each have a microbrewery beer, a nacho for four and some bread and cheese for the baby. As we ask for the bill, we get "picked up" in front of everyone in the restaurant when the waitress tells us that her boss won't be happy, that we didn't each take a plate. We apologize by saying that it's common in Quebec and that we didn't think it was forbidden! But that's not enough, the cook comes to see us to lecture us and tell us that it's a law in Quebec, that we can't share a plate with 4 people! Everyone is looking at us, it ruins the fun when all we wanted was to have fun as a family. He returns to his counter and starts talking about us to the other customers. Very disappointing and really no respect. We stayed around 1 hour with a bill of around $75, which is still not nothing and no longer any pleasure. I explained everything politely to the waitress at the cash register, telling her that I understand that it is not her fault, but that we had no bad intentions and that I did not appreciate being made. arguing" in front of everyone, as if we wanted to take advantage of them. She got her tip and the nacho was really good, but I'll never go there again.
