I had an event in which I needed a really good cake, so I selected this place solely based on the review score of 4.5 out of 5. Getting to the place, it's a pretty small hole-in-the-wall shop, and the cake prices were pretty high at $40+tax for a medium cake.

But sure , I needed something good and with this price and the high score, I couldn't go wrong.. right? Well..... Let's just say I'm still scratching my head, trying to understand either the $40 or the 4.5!

First of all, the cake doesn't really look that good. For this price, you expect something that not only tastes amazing but also bewilder the eyes. But the red velvet I bought just looked like a white round heap with some sprinkles on top of an aluminum tray. Extremely simple. But hey, looks are deceptive. Maybe in its simplicity, something really authentic and genuine is hidden. My impression was the opposite. The cake part wasn't bad but wasn't $40 good either. The filling was pretty meh also! But the worst was the icing, like you were chewing pure sugar. Like a cheap kids' birthday cake. Very artificial. Maybe that's the Canadian taste? I don't know. I say this because the icing also reminded me of the snack cakes you can buy at depanneurs, like jos louis and others, that canadians love, and to me, taste terrible. Very artificial. So, maybe all the other reviews are not wrong. Maybe it's just not for me. To me, this is a cheap $15 kids birthday cake you'd buy at a supermarket because you are out of time. Not an expensive premium $40 adult cake.

On the plus side, the staff was VERY friendly, and the black cardboard box the cake comes in is pretty cool.

Rockaberry always has amazing pies! This one is a smaller location from the main location, but the atmosphere is still the same with their fantastic staff

Love the pies but the only thing is I think they are quite expensive, they should reduce pricing

I guess It's good for people who are easily satisfied and don't know anything about food. People whose body are used to consume an absurd amount of sugar everyday. But honestly, the pies are so unidimensional. Either overwhelmingly sweet or completely tasteless. Such a disappointment and I certainly do not understand the hype on this one. I tried two different pies and both we put in garbage after couple bites. My wife and I hated them. It wasn't even cooked properly and it seems like they tried to compensate with a fat load of sugar. I just don't get it, why such chain exist. Why are you trying to cater to the lowest common denominators? Are you making money? I don't understand who buys that. Add some complexity to your pies and play with different flavors other than just sweet.

I have been eating rockaberry since 2007. The key lime pie is always good. However the cheese cakes have been hit or miss, the cheese part itself most time either tastes like it’s missing sugar or there is chunks of cream cheese it the cake or the texture is not fluffy it’s more wet. Also the crust used to be a crust not a dusting. I tried contacting the company but they said that’s the way they are. DONT BUY THE CHEESE CAKES THEY WENT BAD.

I have been ordering the original cheese cake for the last seven years. The last two times they have simply not tasted good, I thought maybe it was just a bad batch and gave it a second try but I’m thinking not after reading the reviews . They are heavy, not light and fluffy like they use to be and there is these weird chunks of what tastes like cream cheese that haven’t been blended into the fluffy part. It tastes like I’m eating a block of Philadelphia cream cheese every so many bites. Not to mention there use to be a graham cracker crust, now it’s a sprinkle at best. Very disappointing.

I took strawberry cheesecake for a birthday. My kids and I couldn’t eat that thing. So much sugar, so heavy, impossible to digest that. I had to throw it away, three quarters intact
