We moved here in Oct. 2024 and found this little GEM! Amazing food..good vibe...good beer and now suddenly as of 2025 the food is terrible. Quality, taste and presentation have all gone downhill significantly to the point I don't even want to go here anymore. Whoever was in your kitchen previously bring them back and fire the current cook....or just fix yourself.

we went there with a reservation for 12. our reservation was for 12:15, the first plate of food was brought out at 1:20. out of 12 people, 2 meals was acceptable. the club house was so burnt the toast were black. the hamburger was hard to chew because it was so burt. even the cheese on the 4 nacho chips was burnt. The friea were so overcooked that they were hallow. it took until passed 2pm to get all our food, and the last thing to come out was an appetizer (weird), brucheta bread, and the bread was so hard that i couldnt crunch it with my teeth. Amazing that they have no problem serbing unacceptable food, yet charging full price. if u couldnt accomodate the reservation for 12, you should remove all the seats except 2 in ur cafe !

À la suite d’une réservation faite un mois avant l’évènement, j’apprends par la bande que le Café a accepté deux réservations le même soir et que finalement la mienne est annulée. Ce, 72 heures avant l’évènement d’une trentaine de personnes prévu.
Je me rend sur place pour parler au propriétaire et avoir l’heure juste comme personne ne m’a téléphoné pour m’en aviser.
Comme la réservation est à mon nom, j’assume qu’il y a un malentendu puisque j’ose croire qu’on prendrait le temps d’aviser la cliente elle-même de tout malentendu.
À mon arrivée, la serveuse ne retrouve pas ma réservation dans le cartable. Je tourne les pages et voilà, tout est là: mon nom, la date, bref, les informations nécessaires.
Je lui dit que je veux parler au propriétaire puisque ce n’est pas à la serveuse / étudiante de gérer la cliente mécontente. Ce n’est pas de sa faute et j’en suis consciente.
Elle part dans la cuisine et revient seule. Elle me dit qu’il n’a pas le temps de me parler. Le restaurant est vide. Il y a deux clients qui prépare une présentation.
L’erreur est humaine, deux réservations en même temps, évidemment il n’y a pas de place pour accueillir tout ce monde.
Cependant, il me semble que la chose à faire est de sortir de la cuisine en tant qu’entrepreneur/propriétaire et accueillir la cliente pour assumer son erreur. Jamais j’aurais laissé mon employé (probablement encore étudiante au secondaire) gérer une cliente mécontente.
La serveuse m’a dit qu’elle allait lui faire le message et que j’aurai un retour d’appel. J’ai répété que ce n’est vraiment pas de sa faute, que oui, j’attends un retour d’appel et que je suis très déçu du service reçu.
Bref, cela n’est pas la première fois que je fais face à ce genre de service au Café Downtown. C’est décevant puisque je tiens à encourager nos places locales. C’est difficile de le faire quand on ne reçoit pas un service de qualité.

This place could be so much more than what it is. It seems to suffer from neglect by the owner. The menu was a crumpled up piece of paper on a clipboard but only half of the items were available, how does this happen on a Saturday. For what this place is now it's overpriced for what they had left to offer on the menu. Being the only pub in town it would do much better with a make over and better and complete menu. I would not eat there again but it's OK for a drink only, but the entertainment was actually good, just don't order food.

Cute cafe, service was ok. Food presentation was nice. I ordered a brie with apple cinnamon and came with strawberries instead. A little disappointed it was on the menu but not offered. The bread that came with it was so soft and then a few random pieces of rock hard bread. Donair was really good. Fries were good. Taziki dip was good but the pita was burnt. Had to ask for a new one. Burger bun was also burnt. Tacos were just ok. It said shredded beef but was a burger patty. Before we left we ordered 3 hot drinks to go. The chai tea latte was sooo good. The white hot chocolate was flavorless and was handed to us so sticky I had to go back and ask for a different cup.

Mom said coffee wasn't that impressive & she is pretty easy going when it comes to coffee.
On my behalf they said they had Oat milj but then didn't. I didn't like the choice of Almond milk and the non lactose milk ended up not tasting that great and there was tooooo much hazelnut syrup. Even the makeup artist on set who said she would drink it since I didn't want it agreed that it was a let down
Other things on the menu looked fine. The atmosphere was nice and the cashier was nice as well.
We had the pleasure of using Cafe Downtown as our wedding caterer. The food was delicious, and staff were extremely accommodating regarding dietary restrictions! Highly recommend.
