Never again

I've been waiting for this bakery to re-open for months, but I'm not optimistic. Best bakery in the West Island. The most awesome baguettes on the planet. I will miss those baguettes.

Chocolate privilège” is an absolute gem! The pastries are made with the freshest ingredients, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy something sweet. I’m especially a fan of their macarons—each one is delicate, perfectly crisp on the outside, and melts in your mouth with vibrant, delicious flavors. If you’re looking for a place that offers both quality and charm, this is it!

Dear customers,
Please know that as a former employee, the new owner Hugo has not paid his employees on time since his arrival in January and has not paid them at all since August. It hurts us to see the fall of the bakery. I was working there for a long time before going to another job and this hurts a lot. More than the loss of money for us, we are devastated for Pascale who has been building this company for decades before selling to Hugo. Due to not being paid, the bakers and all of the staff have left the company much time ago, which is the reason for the lack of product and quality.

So here it is temporarily closed……for all information the employees have been laid off without pay for 1 month now! Unpaid supplier, unpaid rent, no more baker, no pastry chef. Several employees left on sick leave due to the stress of this supposed imaginary restructuring. deplorable management and a blatant lack of respect for all employees who for years have enabled the rise of this wonderful company. 60 employees were made unemployed without notice and without pay for 1 month. Unpaid supplier problem…power cut to several resumption with heat of 40 degrees for the production of chocolate….empty store due to lack of products to offer…….

This company which for years has been a meeting place for many people has now become an empty business taken over by people who neither have the soul of a pastry chef nor a chocolatier….let's not talk about entrepreneurship ??….

Please share!
Gourmet Privilège is good chocolate
Gourmet Privilège is moments shared with family
Gourmet Privilège is quality

A big thank you to Pascale and all the people who allowed Gourmet Privilège to see the light of day as well as to offer quality for 30 years
Congratulations to all of you!!!
The company has lost its pillars, this is the result!
A name that will remain in our memories thanks to you.

I just don't find it normal that we try to call more than 20 times a day to place an order and that no one picks up the phone. This is truly ridiculous and very poor customer service.

The death of once a west-Island Icon.
No inventory at 10 am on a Sunday, " sorry this is all what we had delivered!". cakes are not the same quality, stopped making macarons!

Turns out the place was sold back in January.

It’s sad to see this pace go down. I have history here. Since its humble beginnings the patisserie was our go to. The croissants and pastries were almost as good as what you’d get in France. I even had my wedding cake made by Francois, the ex owner and we sat there designing it and drawing every layer! It was stunning and tasted even better. That was in 2002.

I have been walking in lately and had noticed a huge decline. The cakes always looked odd, old, shrivelled, undersized. The people working didn’t know what was in the ingredients. The croissants were like Costco croissants (not flaky but layered, so like a layered bread with a shiny top coat).

I picked up croissants last week and took them home. Called the store when I got home to tell them they were weird. The girl on the phone told me they got a bad batch. But it was the second batch as such and when I walked in today, the tops were shiny and soft not crunchy as they should be. I didn’t buy knowing full well they were going to be bready again. Sigh..

But the bummer were the pastries I picked up. They were nothing short of industrial. There was none of the finesse or artistry that Francois had. The taste was below average. Quite honestly pretty close to grocery store quality.

I walked in to buy a couple of pastries, picked up some cookies and politely asked a older masked gentleman behind the coffee machine where the cash was in French. There were only two other people in the shop, and I just wanted to know where I needed to line up to buy my selection. Was told by the mumbling masked staffer something, I asked him to repeat it. He impatiently informed me he was with a client. I did not buy anything, just walked out.

The quality of the food has immensely gone down since the new owners earlier this year. The croissants are always inconsistent, the breads are a lot smaller and for the same price. I remember when the baguettes used to come to the top of the bag, and now, it only goes halfway. The cheesecake cake I bought last week was alright, but there was some kind of liquid coming out of the bottom of it.
The only redeeming quality would be the customer service, mainly from the younger employees. The older ones always seem to talk amongst each other and I had to wait at least 5 minutes to be served whilst they were talking and seemed annoyed when I asked if I was going to be served. When I went on a weekend, the young girl immediately stopped talking and came to greet me with a smile.

Overall, the food itself has gone down a lot in quality and for the same price. I don't think I will be coming here again, I suggest Première Moisson right across the street instead.

I was very disappointed with the chocolate cake I bought for my 5-year-old son's birthday. The genoise was extremely dry, making the cake almost inedible. It felt like it had been sitting there for a while and was quite old. I was so embarrassed when our guests couldn't eat it either; we were all very disappointed. My son's birthday was ruined, and he was very upset.

I usually come here for coffee and croissants, which are usually good, and the staff is very nice(the 1 star is for the staff). That's why I decided to get a cake for my son's birthday from here instead of my usual place, to support them. However, this experience was really disappointing.
