Excellent food and service. I’m from Ontario and a frequent visitor to Quebec, and find that while the food is generally amazing, the service outside of the major cities of Montréal and Quebec City can be hit and miss. This restaurant had both amazing food and service. Very attentive servers who accommodated last minute menu change requests with a smile. Chef came by personally to check in on us. Great patio overlooking the river.

We had the crevette bang bang and the shrimp risotto and it was amazing. It was abit pricey but still worth it. It was 5 big shrimps in each plates that where very well cooked and tasted really good! I highly recommend

We visited Taverne 1855 on our first night in Magog and were seated on the back terrasse. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff, particularly a gentleman who appeared to be the owner or manager, was warm and welcoming. He made an effort to engage with customers.
Unfortunately, the service from our assigned waitress was disappointing. We waited over 20 minutes before she acknowledged us, and during that time we were not offered water, menus, or utensils. She seemed overwhelmed, though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and she only had a few tables to manage.
We started with the fried calamari, which was brought by another staff member who noticed we still had no utensils or napkins. We also had to remind our waitress about our drinks, to which she replied, “Oh, I thought I brought them.”
When the main dishes arrived, we were pleased with the food. My husband enjoyed his burger, and my daughter and I really liked the bavette. However, there was a mix-up with my son’s order. Instead of the regular poutine from the kids’ menu, the chef mistakenly prepared the duck poutine. My son is five, so understandably he wouldn’t eat it. We asked for the correct dish, and thankfully it was fixed a few minutes later.
All in all, the food was very good, but the service from our waitress ...... seemed like a lack of experience more than anything. Oh, and we never did get that water.

At dinner last Friday I ordered the fish (cod) and chips as my main course. The fish was underdone — to the point where the flesh was actually cold. The server took it back and brought a second plate. The fish was still underdone in the middle. The server was very apologetic, but at this point I gave up and nibbled on my fries. My friend’s main (bavette) was fine, but this was a disappointing experience. Would not return.

Less than average. My friend fish was not cooked good even after they tried !! Can you imagine, it is not a rocket science to fry a fish. Anyway, the server was so nice and friendly. Do not trust tastet recommendation.
We are on a tour and stopped in Magog. What a lovely little town and this restaurant was a jewel, that we found. It was truly a very nice experience all around. The food, staff and ambiance was excellent. The food was delicious. It was the best meal we have had in a long time. We had the fish tacos for lunch.
