We were 4 people and 3 of the dinners were not good . Ordered 2 ribeye steaks medium rare and they were medium well. Had to be redone. Ordered a sea bass with no garlic and were promised a grilled sea bass. Recieved a sea bass that was steamed and the texture of jello. They recommended we change the order to salmon but were charged for sea bass and had to have the bill changed. The waiter took the orders 3 times never write anything down and when he checked the 3rd time one of the orders almost got a baked potatoe Instead of fries. During the trouble a manger took over and the waiter did not make sure all was ok. They provided no comps for a terrible dinner and we were there 2 hours more than anticipated. The Xmas music got louder and louder as the night went on. Not a good experience at all. And ending with being charged too much and having to check the bill was not good at all rather than a courtesy comp at least for desert and coffee.

The food is great. Steak, mashed potatoes, spinach, you name it. But we were there this past Saturday night (November 30, 2025) and there was this large and very loud, moronic group of guys celebrating, hollering, screaming, doing drink shots - it was ridiculous. This type of frat house behaviour, clearly not discouraged by the restaurant, made the experience less interesting. Frankly, it cheapens the restaurant. It's why I prefer Gibby's overall - it's classy and the food does not disappoint.

Excellent as always. The radicchio salad was the best I've ever eaten, and the surf and turf was delicious! Our waiter was excellent as well. I'm so happy to have this restaurant so close by.

Love this place usually, elegant and elevated. Don’t order their pepper steak for lunch though, very disappointing. We went today for a special occasion, 2 of us ordered it as medium and medium well. It was so hard and chewy we returned the plates almost full back. Waiter didn’t ask, we gave feedback while paying he said yes it’s normal it should be ordered medium rare or rare only to be good! Wished he told us before we wasted our lunch time.

Extremely Disappointing – Rude, Insensitive, and Possibly Racist Service.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a so-called high-end restaurant like 40 Westt.

My partner and I were served by a shorter waiter with a beard whose attitude was consistently rude, cold, and dismissive. From the moment he approached our table, I greeted him with a big smile, and he responded with a stone-cold face, as if he didn’t care at all. Throughout the evening, his attitude toward us was negative and rushed.

What made this even more disturbing was the contrast with how he treated the neighboring table, who were white. With them, he suddenly became warm, laughing, and very friendly. The difference was so obvious that we couldn’t help but feel we were being treated differently, and possibly discriminated against.

One of the most shocking moments was when he brought the salad. Our total bill was almost $300 for two people, and we had ordered plenty of food. I didn’t feel like salad and had a soup instead, so we ordered only one salad to share. When he served it, he said, completely straight-faced:

“I’m going to give the lady the original plate and serve you some salad also, so you don’t look like you don’t have money.”

There was no smile, no joking tone – just a poker face. I was stunned. Since when does not ordering an extra salad mean we “don’t have money”? I have never had a waiter insult me like that in any restaurant, let alone in a high-end one.

Other problems with his service:
• He never once came to ask how our meal was.
• Our water glasses were left empty for more than half of our stay.
• When we said we preferred flat water instead of sparkling, he gave us a “really?” kind of face.
• Every time he came to our table, he seemed rushed and impatient, yet he had time to chat and laugh with the white table next to us.
• When it came time to pay, I tried to tap my card, as I normally do everywhere, including other fine dining places. He insisted I couldn’t tap and kept talking about “fraud” and “stolen cards,” repeating it in a way that felt accusatory and uncomfortable.

I even asked him if the restaurant was understaffed, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. He said no, they were not understaffed. So there was really no excuse for the attitude and neglect.

Despite all of this, I still tipped 18%. I was honestly too annoyed and exhausted by the end of the meal to make a scene, but I walked away feeling disrespected, stereotyped, and deeply disappointed.

For a restaurant at this level and price point, this kind of service and behavior is completely unacceptable. 40 Westt needs to seriously look into how their staff are treating different customers. This experience ruined what was supposed to be a special evening.

Excellent Streakhouse very well known and a staple in the West Island. As for pricing again you need to take into consideration the high quality meat steak you get here well worth the money you spend. Extensive wine selection all in all is a very nice place and if you want to have am unforgettable steak this is the place !

Friday night dinner for two at 40 Westt was phenomenal. They have the restaurant decorated for the holidays which made such a festive atmosphere. Our server, Theodore, was pleasant and attentive all evening. The food was delicious and I enjoyed the Yuzzi Fizz with a shot of vodka.
