Love this cozy little restaurant in ddo . I had the smoked meat special sandwich , fries cole slaw was fantastic , fair price for the portions , the staff was very nice and welcoming

Used to be a fan when it was only Smoked Meat Pete's brother that owned it but the quality has definitely gone down hill since. Recently my husband and I decided to give it a try again as some people on reddit were talking about how the prices were better than Smoked Meat Pete's and the food was better as well. Sadly, they weren't right. The price is on par with Smoked Meat Pete's and the sandwich wasn't fantastic. The smoked meat itself isn't the traditional meat, it reminds me more of a roast beef sandwich, especially with how thin he shaved the meat. It was slightly on the bland side and the meat itself didn't have that typical texture either. All I am going to say is I am glad I only bought one sandwich to try and nothing else, take that however you want.

We got a takeout smoke meat sandwich here. Medium.The meat flavor is quite different compared to Schwartz's or Lester's -in a good way imo. It's not over seasoned. You can actually taste a hint of beef and feel a little of it's texture.Great smoked meat imo. The bread wasn't super fresh on a Friday evening.

Amazing smoked meat sandwich amongst a large menu.
Have been there three times over the last 3 years, last time was not very good but we decided to give it another try. For us a good smoked meat is like a treat, but what a disappointment it was. The meat was very dry and crumbly and the fries were horrible (funny there is a newspaper clipping on the wall saying they have the best fries!) It was quite pricey for poor quality. Better smoked meat, better fries and better price at La Belle Province. Will never return.

We did take out. Smoked meat is very good here. Great flavour. It’s a very small restaurant in an older building so that’s why I took off a star for atmosphere but service and food was great.

I love this place. The smoked meat is, in my opinion, some of the best in the city. I get the medium fat sandwich and I always love it. I like the decor in the restaurant and the seats are super comfortable.

Very disappointed with my last visit. Have been a regular customer for many, many years.Always ordered the exact same thing- a large FAT smoke meat sandwich ( not many places know how to do it like that ) , a large family size fries , and a lean smoked meat sandwich. All for take out. Returned home to discover that they had given me a LEAN. sandwich. I drove back assuming that perhaps they mistakenly switched my order with another. When I explained to them that it’s a lean and not a FAT as I ordered , the chef behind the counter yelled at me saying “ THATS HOW IT IS !!! THE MEAT IS THE MEAT !!!! I ALWAYS MAKE IT LIKE THAT!!!! I explained to him that he always makes it the way I asked, and that this is not what I ordered. He shrugged his shoulders and ignored me. I left them the sandwich, returned home , and my wife couldn’t even take a second bite of her lean sandwich. I took the rest of the food and went back to ask for a refund. They didn’t even try to offer something else or to resolve the situation. They didn’t even refund the full amount! Only for the fries , because as he said “ you ate the sandwiches “ ( aside from a couple of bites we did not ) . I have never been treated like that in ANY restaurant in my life! Absolutely unbelievable, the WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! the chef is arrogant and should not be in the restaurant business. If I could leave a negative 5 review I would.
