This Bistro has wonderful food and service. The staff and owner were super kind during the winter carnival. The drinks were quite tasty and they have their own brand of Gin which I highly recommend. It made our visit more magical!

It was a snowy night & Old Quebec was showing its best. It was a wonderful experience. Great food & service. We were close to closing - a liquer on the house - perhaps from the owner/staff who were staying late, relaxing too perhaps because of the snow. They were enjoying themselves & we were too. Merci Beaucoup. Highly recommend & will defintely return.

This restaurant looks popular and the food looks good. However I wouldn’t be able to say as I wasn’t able to be seated. The sever/manager was extremely rude. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:15 pm on a Saturday night after a cold toboggan ride in Quebec City.
The manager said there was no way he could seat me even at the bar as he had reservations at 8pm. There were empty tables and the entire bar was empty. As a person dining alone I could have been done fairly quickly and been out of there before his reservations arrived. Food for thought next time you turn down a visitor who is a guest in your city for a short while!

Service and atmosphere was good, but food could be better done. Duck confit was dry and slightly overcooked, French onion soup tasted more like beef broth with added onions, lacked depth and richness. Beef cheek poutine was good.

Very luckily we walked in and BSM found us a table upstairs. Florence was exceptional in helping us make some fine choices from the menu. Delightful! Following a French 75 and Negroni, we ate Onion Soup, Beef Cheeks and the Seafood Bisque accompanied by Florence's 'spot-on' wine recommendation. As a final treat we took the Tarte Tatin, amazing! What a find! Thank you Florence!

Tonight, in Quebec, we had one of the best meals of our lives! This is not an easy reservation! I would suggest reserving when you plan the trip! Bistro St Malo is a small iconoclastic space in the gallery district by the St Lawrence river. It is a 10 minute walk from the bottom Funicular stop. The food is locally sourced and the restaurant is chef owned! The meals and desserts were spectacular! We loved the tuna tartare, the fish soup with lobster, shrimp, mussels cooked in a saffron lobster bisque, the roast cod with mushroom gnocchi, and the Tarte Tatin! I will eat there every time we com to Quebec! Our server was delightful and spoke impeccable English. Truly great meal!
