Cafe Krieghoff is an excellent place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I had the traditional poutine and it was delectable. The cheese curds were real and the Demi-glaze brown gravy was very tasty. Service was expedient, but not too much. All the wait staff were friendly and most spoke English and French.
Hello,
We were on vacation visiting Quebec City and we decided to have lunch there on Aug 11. We were seated by the outside server but had a waitress serve us. It was a terrible as we waited about 45 minutes to give our order. Once that happened, we waited another 30 minutes before we got our food while another table of 4 were seated behind us and were served quicker and received their food before we got ours. On top of that, my wife asked for a latte which the server forgot to bring. We decided not to ask for it but simply wait for the bill to see if it was on it. It wasn’t on the bill but we just wanted to leave as quickly as we can. I gave the server a 10% tip which I felt was generous since I didn’t she deserved any. This was our second there and will be our last time.
We had lunch here and found it to be great. I had the smoked salmon poké bowl and hubby had the smoked meat sandwich. They were both excellent.
Service was good and prices reasonable.
Highly recommend.
Best veggie pâte I ever had!
And the baguette toasted for breakfast is amazing!
Great place for breakfast and the coffee was delicious. Both inndoor or outdoor seating have great spots...back patio is a lovely spot for food and conversation
Had breakfast here 3 times. Food was great and service fantastic. I would recommend this cafe to anyone. They also have a hotel but we did not stay here.
We had brunch at Kreighoff Café in Quebec City on Quebec Day, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed—perfect for celebrating the holiday. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff made sure we felt right at home.
The coffee was rich and flavorful—exactly what you’d hope for to start a good brunch. The café offers both indoor seating and two terraces: one out front for people-watching and another out back for a quieter vibe.
We tried two brunch plates and both were outstanding. The Provençal omelet was savory and colorful, filled with sautéed tomatoes, garlic, onions, peppers, and zucchini. It came with home-fried potatoes that were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, along with a slice of toast and a small portion of tangy red sauce.
The second dish was a cream cheese omelet, soft and smooth with fresh tomatoes and chives tucked inside. It was served with the same crispy potatoes and toast, plus a side of fresh fruit slices—cantaloupe and orange—for a bright, refreshing finish.
Highly recommended if you’re in Quebec City and looking for a charming, satisfying brunch spot.
Food was great. Antiquated ambience.
Lovely family stay for the holiday season. Very pleasant with the living room upstairs to sit on the large leather sofa.

Little romantic dinner before going to the Grand Théâtre de Québec. Everything was perfect; cozy atmosphere, very good food at a reasonable price, outstanding service. All close to the performance hall. I recommend without hesitation.

Very good lunch, but a little too expensive for what is offered. Beautiful atmosphere 🙂
