I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. Despite having a reservation, we waited 30 minutes just to be seated. Once at our table, it took the waiter another 10 minutes to even approach us, followed by an additional 15 minutes just to take our drink order.

After sitting for 45 minutes with no proper service, I finally approached a manager—who did little to resolve the situation. To make matters worse, the waiter actually told us we could go elsewhere and brushed it off as though it wasn’t his responsibility.

The lack of hospitality, the disrespectful attitude, and overall rudeness from both staff and management made this experience unacceptable. This restaurant does not deserve anywhere near a 4-star rating. The manager should have at least approached our table and spoke to us as a family. Very cowardly.

Unprofessional, ignorant and horrible service. Best way to describe this place. There is way better steak resturants than this hole. Just look at the reviews. I wish I read them befor visiting.

By far the worst experience you could ask for....
First they took 30 min to get the line cleared. When we get to the host she says they accidentally gave our table to other people. Then we waited another 15 min to get a new table. We get seated and wait about 30 min and I had enough I speak to the manager that we have been here for 1h10m amd we still havet got to order any food or drinks. Immediately the manager grabs the server amd tells him to do his job.... he comes over to our table with his attitude and tells us that its not his fault I I reply its not ours either and he recommended to hit up another resturant if we dont like him. we had enough and left. We went to STEAK AVENUE. Trust me dont waste your time and money in this ignorant resturant. Trust me you will have a way better time in any other resturant in quebec city..

We went there for a fancy dinner and were not disappointed. I got a 16 oz New York Strip and the scallops for starters. The outdoor terrace is wonderful, the staff was friendly and the food was really good. What could be slightly improved is not keeping customers with empty glasses. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

A little to crowded table placement wise but the smell of the maple wood, decor and service on top of the food were worthy of 5 stars from me.

Brilliant atmosphere and a gorgeous setting! I had one of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted here, and their crème brûlée was so incredible it inspired me to write this review

Absolute must go, I have gone here every year for my birthday the past 3-4 years and plan to continue the tradition! The staff is wonderful, the food is amazing. Try the escargot, thank me later. That sauce is absolutely to die for. Delicious drinks! I always get the princess peach. Thank you for always helping make my birthday so special ❤️

On December 27, 2024 at 8:57 p.m., at the Charbon Steakhouse restaurant in Old Quebec…

What was supposed to be a celebration of our 7th anniversary quickly turned into a situation I wouldn't wish on anyone.

While she was eating, my girlfriend thought she bit into a piece of steak that was a bit tough. She bit on it several times before removing it from her mouth with her fingers without knowing what it was. She looked at the piece in her hand, realized it was a HUGE piece of BROKEN GLASS, then looked at me and said, “Oh my God, I just bit some glass.” » She then placed it in a small mayonnaise container which remained on the table.

Luckily, her Invisaligns acted as a sort of mouthguard, preventing her from chipping a tooth or swallowing the piece of glass. However, the glass damaged her Invisalign.

We had great seats, a wonderful waitress and a nice atmosphere. We started with starters, drank only water, and ordered steak dishes. The incident happened while we were still eating. Inside, I was furious, but I kept calm, remained polite and avoided making a scene so as not to disturb the other customers.

I got up and found the hostess, who sent for our waitress. We showed her the piece of glass, and she showed real concern and a bit of panic. She left and came back with another woman, who turned out to be the manager.

However, the manager did NOT bother to introduce herself, show any concern, or even acknowledge the seriousness of the situation for my girlfriend. Instead, she immediately fell into denial, refusing to admit that it was glass. (It was!!!) She suggested that "maybe it was debris from cracks in the mayonnaise dispenser, which may not have been cleaned properly."

That's all she said. No apology, no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the incident. Then she left...and never came back.

I later learned that the manager's name was Nadine. (We also know the name of the waitress, but we'll keep that to ourselves in this post.)

The waitress came back with a small container of mayonnaise. At that point, I knew what to expect for the rest of the evening.

Our meals were completely ruined—we obviously didn’t continue. Yet they still wanted us to pay the entire bill. This led to a negotiation between me and the waitress.

To give you some context, this was our first visit to this restaurant. We love steak, it's our favorite dish, and we wanted to spend a pleasant evening enjoying a good meal without having to cook or prepare anything. Price was not an issue; we just wanted to have a great experience.

Unfortunately, this experience was far from that. Although we like to share our positive experiences, this time we felt it was necessary to share what happened. People must be held accountable.

The manager? Absolutely horrible.

We are grateful that my girlfriend is okay—that she didn't swallow the drink, cut her mouth, or knock out a tooth. But we are sad, frustrated and disappointed.

We will obviously never set foot there again.
