We went here twice during our stay in Québec and were really satisfied both times. Important for us was the allergene information, which is comforting and reliable. The food also is really good, especially the poutine and the ribs. Its a nice atmosphere and good service and definitely worth a visit.

My family had a terrible experience here. I ordered an entree specifically marked gluten free on the menu AND informed my server multiple times that I have a gluten allergy. Despite that, I was served a meal containing gluten, and unfortunately didn’t notice until eating a few bites of it. Our server never returned to inquire how our food was. After waiting 15 minutes, my husband had to track down another server, who confirmed the meal I was served did indeed contain gluten in the breading. My husband’s chicken dish was partially raw. Our server was incredibly rude to us at the end of this terrible meal, along with being largely unavailable throughout our time there. I spent 4 days sick from the gluten exposure. Terrible experience, sadly.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Cochon Dingue Champlain during my recent visit. While I was looking forward to enjoying a meal in what appeared to be a charming setting, the behaviour of one particular waitress completely overshadowed the experience. 🤮
From the beginning, her attitude was cold and dismissive toward me and my party. As we placed our order, our wait time was over 45mins. Whereas, guests seated after us received their meals with a wide smile. It became increasingly difficult to ignore what felt like racially motivated behaviour. Also, our inability to speak French felt like a factor of discrimination. Food was good and none of us had complaints. At the end of our meal, we didn’t tip as TIPS ARE FOR GOOD SERVICE AND VOLUNTARY. When she saw that we didn’t leave a tip, she embarrassed us in front of other guests by saying that we should know that tipping 15% is a norm here and we should know these things before coming here. We ended up paying a 15% tip after she forced us to pay by shaming us!!
As a guest, nobody should feel like an outsider in a restaurant, especially in a city known for its hospitality. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and provides better training on respectful, equitable service. Discrimination, even at a subtle level, has no place in any public establishment. I will not be returning, and I encourage others to be aware of how people of colour seem to be treated here.

We chose this restaurant at the recommendation of our hotel concierge for a kid friendly experience (young children), and it didn't disappoint. My kids loved it (they actually ate!), and the menu for adults was actually good as well. I felt that our meals were excellent considering our intent. They accept reservations online, which eliminated the uncertainty of mealtime with children.

Terrible dining experience. Grilled cheese sandwich was a bust, Philly cheese steak terrible, fries were awful. Do not bother.

We had a reservation for 5 pm and were seated after waiting in line. From being seated to getting our first appetizer took an hour. It was a charcuterie that had three slices of cheese and maybe eight slices of salami and three crackers. We asked for more crackers which never arrived. The main courses came 90 minutes after we were seated and were all mediocre. Definitely not worth the time or money.

This place is our go to restaurant while in town. It is unfortunate that this experience took it to such disappointment. While we do appreciate giving us a longer grace period for the reservation, the food was such disappointment. The main issue was the back rib... When we asked to order the full size, the server had came back to us stating that they are only selling the half rack, and if we want, we can order 2 half racks for more price.. the reasoning being was there was not enough stock... the other issue we had was the fries.. clearly it was old, we asked our server to change it, and this was corrected.. the Rib experience was such disappointment that we will not be coming back for a while. Hope the management can learn from this.

It’s exactly the kind of brunch you would expect. Table service was impeccable once seated.
Unfortunately, the front desk experience nearly ruined it. We had a reservation and arrived on time. With a long lineup, we checked with people ahead of us and confirmed they didn’t have reservations, then notified staff.
While escorting us to our table, the waitress told us that next time we should wait in line with everyone else — reservation or not. When I asked what the point of making a reservation was, she had no answer and simply repeated herself.
The 8% tip reflects that interaction.
Suggestion: reservations should mean something. If you’ve booked a table, you shouldn’t be told to wait in line with walk-ins.

I went on a trip to Old Quebec from very far away. I took my parents there, and they said they were very satisfied with the meal. I’m planning to visit Quebec again in October and November, and I’d love to go back.

I ordered the grilled salmon with quinoa and sautéed green veggies. The salmon was nicely cooked, the quinoa and green veggies were a bit bland. However, my partner ordered the white grilled fish with a very tasty sauce, this dish was excellent and worthy of the price. Our server who was fairly new there as she told us, was very friendly, helpful and had a positive attitude. I asked to change spots initially to be in a more intimate space away from the noise from the bar and she was very accommodating. The only comment I would add is that we arrived at a slow hour around 4pm when there weren’t many customers in the restaurant so employees (most of them seemed younger) would gather in a group near the bar and chat openly. It felt uncomfortable and honestly seemed unprofessional. Atmosphere is important to me so I probably wouldn’t go back but our server did do a great job as well as the kitchen staff who brought our meal.
