We went there on Friday January 3. While the food was excellent, the service was very disappointing. Although it was still early and the crowds were low, placing an order proved difficult. We had the impression that the servers were in a hurry to finish their day. When we asked for a cocktail, the waitress simply told us they didn't make any, without offering us any other options.

I had made a birthday reservation here. 10 minutes before the designated time the restaurant called me to cancel because they ran out of food. What restaurant runs out of food? This had me scrambling to find a new place to host my sister’s birthday on a busy Saturday night. Terrible.

A few years ago we came to this restaurant to celebrate my best friend's birthday, it was great but when we came back for my party, the terrible service, extremely expensive dishes and a bottle of wine that didn't was not worth it, I am deeply disappointed with this evening which should have proved to be a success. If you want to hire non-competent people, go ahead but please don't subject customers to such negligence, I don't recommend this crappy restaurant to anyone and I weigh my words carefully.

We are on our first visit to Quebec City. Prior to our trip, we did some research on restaurants and Les Sales Grosses had very good reviews. We decided we would dine there one evening during our trip and made a reservation when we arrived in Quebec.
On the night of our reservation, we paid for an Uber to the restaurant from the old city. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived. We were seated, the menu was explained to us and we ordered a bottle of wine. We looked forward to enjoying our wine with 3 or 4 plates from the menu. It started out well, we got our wine but then we sat for about 30 minutes with no wait staff coming to our table to take our food order and it didn’t feel like anyone would be coming anytime soon. We tried several times to make eye contact and engage our waitress but she seemed to make a point of not looking at us. We only needed a couple of minutes of the waitress’ time so we could order our first 2 plates to start but instead she chatted with other tables and cleared dishes from some others, not once looking at us. If she had even acknowledged that she knew it was taking her a while to get to us and let us know she’d be with us shortly, we would have understood but she didn’t.
After sitting for 30 minutes, we felt that our visit to the restaurant couldn’t be salvaged because of the poor service we were receiving. We paid for our wine and left. We were very disappointed, as we were really looking forward to an evening of great food and wine at Les Sales Gosses.
We’re not sure if the waitress couldn’t provide good service because they didn’t have enough staff working. If that is the case, the management of the restaurant needs to address it, as we didn’t appear to be the only table that was dissatisfied with the service we were receiving. I also felt the waitress could have better managed how she spent her time between tables. We ended up down the street where we were served and received our food in less time than we sat at Les Sales Gosses waiting to place our order. It wasn’t the dinner or the evening we wanted but we did receive great service at the 2nd restaurant and the food hit the spot, especially given how hungry we were by that time.
I can’t say enough how disappointing it was that we had to leave after we made a point of reserving and taking an Uber to this restaurant, only to have to leave because of the lack of service. The food we saw looked very good. It’s really too bad we weren’t able to try any of it.

Amazing ! I was going back a little because of the concept of a composite plate, but ultimately: wooow! We are on another culinary level here! I had the Scotch Eggs, then the lamb, and I loved and savored every micron of these plates. wow wow!

The quality of the service and the food blew my mind. I have pretty high standards (I love to cook, and to eat well when I travel) & I was not disappointed. The waitress was passionate, personable, and knowledgeable - she recommended a really good italian wine, and reasonably priced! We had the scallops, the veal and the porchetta (which I have eaten in Italy numerous times) and everything was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I hope I can go again soon!

Nice chilled vibe on a Sat evening and not touristy. The dishes are for share size. We had the brussel sprouts, raw bison and scotch egg. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Our group tried almost all of the dishes and we really enjoyed everything! Every dish was thoughtfully put together and they were visually appealing and delicious. The service was also fantastic despite our group needing English translations. Would recommend you try this place out for a nice dinner while in Quebec City!
