Café Van Houtte

Chocolatine was good, cookie too sweet and the London Fog was okay. Vegetarian sandwiches there are not the best. Good to work or study. They ask directly for tip when you pay by card.

It’s an average small town cafe that’s probably a chain. The food was nice, good sandwiches. The latte was very watered down, the chai latte was good.
The paying for the meal was really awkward. In yet another example of how tipping has gone crazy. The cashier asked my wife how much she would like to tip, while hovering over the cash register…
This isn’t her choice (I’m assuming) but the entire interaction is designed to make customers uncomfortable by vocalizing their tip… I detest this culture of tipping and pressuring customers.

I hope management sees this and can appreciate how rude this is. If you want a tip, use an iPad or allow people to tip on the receipt.

Stopped in for breakfast and it was great. I had the cranberry and orange muffin.

First thing I notice here, it's a Starbucks style atmosphere rather occupied by retirees! It's probably been at least 10 years since I last set foot here, I used to go to the one downtown, near Boom 104. Okay. Since all coffee shops offer Americano-espresso-latte, long drinks and Americanos are my source of caffeine. The Al'Van Houtte ones are tasteless... reminding me that this is why I never buy ground coffee from this brand.

Les propriétaires sont accueillant et chaleureux. Nous adorons les muffins à l’avoine. Je fais des commandes téléphoniques et très bon service. Je vais à cet endroit avec mes fils depuis plus de 15 ans. Mon plus jeune à 2 mois de naissance a été hospitalisé au HHR. Un moment de répit durant l’hospitalisation a été de venir au Van Houte . Le meileur de tous les Van Houtte. Merci ??

Had a latte and a grilled cheese w/ bacon sandwich, on a wheat bread. Service was great and food came pretty quickly.
