What a cozy and welcoming space. Staff & patrons were amazing, supportive and kind as I attended my first open mic in Wakefield.. been trying to make it out for over a year and very happy I did. Gin & tonics on point, fair pricing, will def return.
The open mic had a variety of performances... Full on blue jams w 4 piece (including sax and flute), to alternative music/ spoken poetry style - legends and newcomers.. don't be shy, this is a great place to start.

We biked all the way to Wakefield and stopped right at the beginning of town — what a gem! The waitress (wish I knew her name!) was super friendly and welcoming. Perfect spot to enjoy a drink and some food. The sandwich we had was absolutely delicious. Our order took a little longer because the kitchen misplaced it, but it really wasn’t a problem at all. Totally worth the wait. I’d 100% recommend this place if you’re ever in Wakefield!

Iconic Wakefield pub, with lots of decent beers on tap. Hosts great music. A regular hangout location for locals. Often over crowded.
What a wonderful find! After a cold and rainy day exploring the Lusk caves, we were feeling like some warm soup. Desperate to find a decent place that wasn’t part of a chain or a chip truck, we picked the first place that popped up in Maps. Wow, did we ever get lucky. At first we were too sure if they were actually open but when we got inside, we were immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere. The lovely staff came by and we had a chat about what soups they offered. We jumped on the salmon chowder with fresh biscuits. I’m from the maritimes and have a high bar to meet for chowder and wow did they ever surpass it. I’ve never tasted a soup so flavourful! The biscuits were extremely fresh and the soup was perfect. We still talk about the meal to this day. We’ve been back several times and even though they circulate the menu and offer different soups, we haven’t had a bad one yet. Even the sandwiches are amazing. We recommend this caffe to all our friends and hear great reviews. Take the time to stop here, you’ll regret never trying it!

This should be a really nice spot to sit on the patio overlooking the river and listen to some live music on a Sunday afternoon, if they didn't have a policy that every person at a table must order a drink and/or food. We were there as a group of five, and one of us just wanted water, while the others were ordering beers and wine. The waitress told us that everyone has to buy a drink, no exceptions. That is one crazy policy, and one that I have not encountered except rarely in very snotty places. C'mon! Four out of five people ordering, and that's not enough??? I get that you don't want a table full of people wanting only water, that makes sense, it's a business. But when others at the table are ordering drinks, making the one water drinker order a drink is bad business, and just plain not nice.
For all those of you fasting or abstaining for whatever reason, Kaffe 1970 doesn't want you.
