Omg definitely one of R.I hidden gems 💎
Always a delight
Just not the same meat lasagna of old...we needed to add our own sauce and cheese because it was so dry and tasteless (skimpy layers of filling between thick layers of pasta). Now, the eggplant parm was just delicious!
I went in there to buy lasagna and noticed there is not even a layer of meat and pasta and cheese! Its pretty expensive and was disappointed with the lack of food. She used to make a huge amount of lasagna and now its reduced to nothing.
Just had the lasagna it was such a disappointment. One layer. The lasagna from a couple of years old was fine. I have never seen a piece of lasagna like this. In the garbage it goes!!!! Waste of money as well!!
Eggplant parm ok lasagna is awful no stuffing just pasta on top of pasta. Lemon chicken overcooked has no flavor just water thickened with cornstarch. Who do they think they are fooling. This group that owns Beso and safe house has always served slop and don’t know what good food is. the soups they are the worst soup all broth with hardly any ingredients very disappointing. This place only cares about money no pride in there food!
I purchased a medium size traditional lasagne today for tonight's dinner. We were very disappointed as it had no flavor and it was very thin and tough to cut. The alluminum containers being used now are too shallow. I've been purchasing food here for almost 40 years and their lasagne was always our favorite for bringing to family gatherings.
I bought a small lasagne and 2 small eggplant Parms this past spring and was not happy with the quality then either but decided to give them another try today. In the spring we noticed that the pasta was much thicker. The eggplant I purchased at the same time was tough and impossible to chew. I actually threw the second one away.
I'm very disappointed and won't be going back. I'm gonna miss this place. It's just not the same since the new owners too over.
Have to say Im very disappointed! I ordered 2 large Florentine Lasagnas and the one I kept ( the other was dropped for family for a meal) and the lasagna is not even layered all the way up!!! For the price and what I spent. Extremely disappointed ☹️
Would you consider adding a veal sandwich?
I truly believe I just had the best Italian grinder of my life. I cannot wait to come back. I will shortly. ty so much

Always great food and very easy to heat and eat
Used to have the lasagna about every 6 weeks . Tried it recently and it not only didn’t come close to what it use to be, it was actually quite poor.
This place used to be much better. Tried the Lemon Chicken and discovered the quality of the chicken has declined. It was tough and stringy. The lemon sauce was almost non-existent.
Also tried the Chicken Pot Pie. The quality of the chicken her was fine, so maybe the lemon chicken was an aberration. The issue here was that I followed the instructions EXACTLY and the potatoes were not done. I plan on trying this again and cooking it for longer at a slightly lower temp.
7/12/2024: Thought I'd give it another chance, so I tried their meatballs tonight. I'm not Italian so maybe I'm not qualified to rate meatballs, but when I found it VERY difficult to cut one with a fork, I knew something was amiss. They were basically unseasoned, tasteless balls of something that I found very close to inedible. I'd be interested to see how other customers react to these. No doubt the worst meatballs I've ever tasted.
Used to love going here to get meals for the week when it was under the previous ownership. Stopped by to get our usual and the pizza has changed (crust didn’t rise like usual). The portion of the chicken Marsala was really small, it was essentially two chicken breasts already cut up which makes the pieces chewy. The chicken pot pie was also small and needed salt. Pretty disappointed and bummed that they took something really good, wholesome and consistent gave it a face lift and now serve smaller portions of bleh food. You can tell the prep isn’t as good, and the portions have been reduced to create a larger margin.
This place has potential. My complaint it that they charge nearly $15 for a basic roast beef sandwich. It was large, but exceptionally bland. I'll give them another shot someday.
