Delicious food, nice place

Loved this place. I got fish and chips and the fish flaked with a fork - fresh and delicious! Mindy got my take out order ready, and she was so pleasant! I’ll be back!

We were in a hurry so we tried this place on a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 and got takeout. The place was empty except for a couple of guys at the bar. The fish and chips was decent, but the fish tacos were totally gross. Skinny, overcooked pieces of fried fish with very little fish in between the overcooked batter. The “fish”, of indeterminate origin, sat on top of chopped up lettuce, corn and black beans stuffed into a mushy taco. I write this as I head home with complete regret that I ever took a single bite of those supposed fish tacos. I also write this in hopes that the cook will take that foul excuse for a fish taco off the menu or at least figure out how to make them right.

We went here in May, great place. Very attentive service and incredibly nice waitstaff. All of the food was excellent. We ordered two kids meals, a burger, and two flatbreads (one was a taco flatbread). All were very good, we would go back here without hesitation! Just a short drive from Sakonnet Point and Tiverton. Highly recommend!

I’ve always enjoyed this place, but I recently went and saw it to be very unprofessional. Our waitress was great! I believe her name was Melanie. She was very attentive to our needs and friendly. However, another waitress was very standoffish and started off with making snarky remarks and then I was shocked to see her yell at our waitress! I feel it was very unprofessional to do in front of customers. Our waitress had amazing self control because I know I wouldn’t have reacted like she did. She remained calm and this other woman Leanne or Louise? not sure, but she was being so rude and it was just a bad look for the establishment altogether. Even a man from the back, I’m thinking a cook? came out and was also very unprofessional in my opinion. I’m not so sure I’d return after this experience. I’m not a Karen by any means, things happen. It was just awful to see our kind waitress being dehumanized in front of customers and just accepted it and still served us with a smile. Upsetting to see an employee being treated this way by co-workers.

I really love this place. The food and drink is PHENOMENAL and the atmosphere is homey and friendly. I come here every time I have a beach day. Today we had the sea scallops with risotto cake, and the onion ring grilled cheese special and shared. Neither disappointed. For desert, we had the cheesecake - SOOOO GOOOD!!! Generous portions and it’s not a sacrifice for flavor or quality.

Spectacular establishment! They hosted us for a wedding postgame and we came back the next day for amazing French dip sandwiches and drinks. Louise is a legend.

What a gem!!! My sweetie and I LOVE their food and Sangria!!!! We had sea scallops with risotto cake and the grilled cheese onion rings special. Scallops were perfectly flavored and cooked to the perfect temp. The risotto cake was nicely seasoned; soft on the inside and nicely browned on the outside. We had cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries and a side of ice cream and it was to-die-for!!!!

Upon entering R.L. Flounders we felt as if we were transported to a Wisconsin Supper Club: open, airy, spacious and very family friendly. Meandering our way through the dining room, we found the beautifully appointed bar space(s) complete with a sprawling granite bar (some 18 seats), many high tops, big screen televisions and a fireplace. We were greeted by Lori, who was our server for the evening. Locals and other team members were quick to extend a warm welcome. We were made to feel right at home. To say that our meal was outstanding, is an understatement! We each had the award-winning New England Clam Chowder to start: thick, silky, creamy, loaded with clams, and seasoned to perfection (with dill). With the chowder, a personal sized cast iron skillet arrived with freshly baked corn bread and a side of honey butter. The bread was sweet and moist yet crumbly (as corn bread should be). Our entrees included the Stuffed Flounder and the Rye Crusted Salmon. The stuffed flounder were fillets of fresh flounder rolled around (or stuffed) with a lobster, crab and scallop stuffing, and topped with a lobster cream sauce. This was not the typical heavily breaded stuffing, often found in shrimp or other dishes. Rather, it was all seafood. Each bite melted in our mouths. The salmon was prepared with a rye bread crust topped with a whole grain mustard sauce. The flesh of the fish was moist while masterfully flavored by the rye and mustard. Each entree comes with your choice of two sides: veggie of the day, French fries, cole slaw, rice of the day, sweet potato fries, potato cake, side salad, Caesar salad, and/or roasted potatoes. Our choices were the veggie of the day…fresh green beans sautéed in extra virgin olive oil, garlic and white wine. They did not disappoint! R.L. Flounders offers a large selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Everything is made on premises. (Unfortunately, we were too satiated to indulge in dessert. We were told that the cheesecake was something very special!) Through conversation, we soon learned that Lori was the L in R.L. Flounders. The R belongs to Roger, Lori’s partner. This duo opened R.L. Flounders nine months ago. What a ginormous gift to Little Compton and the surrounding areas! If you are in the area, be sure to stop. If not, it’s worth the trip!
