Gardner's Wharf Seafood

A great place to enjoy seafood, either to take home or dine outside with tables and umbrellas to view the beautiful mariner and shoreline. There is no dining inside. They have a great raw seafood display for purchase, such as fresh fish, shrimp, oysters, clams, little necks, live lobsters,etc, of which they will steam them right there to take home or eat there outside. The takeout menu has a lot of selection to it, even for kids consumption. I had the whole belly fried clams with FF and coleslaw, absolutely delicious. Also in the raw seafood display, there is also baked stuffed shrimp ready to place in your oven for any occasion, especially the holidays. The place is spotless inside along with no fishy unpleasant odors. Can't wait to try their chowder and clam cakes. They have 3 kinds of chowder to select from, white, red, and clear broth. So, hop in your vehicle and get down.

Love the fresh seafood from this place. Great snail salad, thinly sliced. The tuna and swordfish is super fresh and great on the grill.

Ordered 12 lbs of steamers. They were ready and already being filtered in the lobster tank. Clams were perfect and buttery. Zero floaters.

Great food overlooking the marina

Beautiful location!!! Fried clams were super crispy and delicious as were the fries. Chowder was full of flavor but barely warm. The view made up for any shortcomings. Staff were friendly and efficient.

The seafood I wanted (live crab) wasn't available. The staff was pleasant, and the establishment was clean.

Was extremely disappointed with our visit to Gardners today. We were told a mistake in our order on their end would take 15-20 minutes to fix. We understand they may be short staffed and busy but the woman at the counter offered no apology for their error or solution other than getting to the back of the line and waiting. Good customer service goes a long way but sadly we were not offered any today.

One of the few real Seafood stores left in R.I. Go early for best options.

35 dollars for a lobster roll with half a pound of lobster is ridiculous, go somewhere else! Also watch out for Farva from super troopers. You will know him when you see him, total idiot!

Delish fresh cooked seafood at a great price with lovely outdoor seating along the marina to sit and eat. They also have a fresh seafood market and their prices are very good. It's a short, beautiful stroll from the high street, past historic houses with gorgeous gardens. Highly recommend parking in town and wandering to and from. You will love it.

One of the better seafood stores in RI. Always fresh local catch and shellfish. Good prepared dishes as well.

Chevy's Shack take out:
Located inside of Gardner's Wharf Seaford in downtown Wickford, is a wonderful little take out (or eat outside at picnic tables) place known as Chevy's Shack. They have a delicious little cup of chowder (either Red {Manhattan}, White {New England} or clear {Rhode Island}) & 3 Clam Cakes for $5.99 (drink NOT included). At that price one is eating much healthier than the burger franchise locations combo meals and for much less.

In three (3) short weeks I have been six (6) times, wanting to sample each variety of the 3 chowder. Traditionally my family is a Manhattan Red chowder consumer, however Chevy's has quickly convinced me of the merits of the New England variety. I was not impressed with the Manhattan Red, as it was more of a clam & vegetable soup/chowder (I have yet to try their Clear RI version).

Most restaunts have a very poor version of Clam Cakes, as many tend to serve doughy "hush puppies" without much minced Clam. Chevy's is the exception!! Their version of the traditional clam cake is nearly as good as our family secret 'Martha's Vineyard Quahog Fritters' (sorry, I cannot share the recipe outside of the family!!). Chevy's are so good, in fact, that they are even good the next day warmed up in the microwave! Now that is really saying something.

Chevy's has a complete menu from Lobster salad, to Fish n Chips, Scallops, Cheeseburgers and Hot Dogs. (You can find it online at Gardner's Wharf Seaford). So if you find yourself near Wickford near lunchtime or a light after snack, be sure to try their chowder & clam cakes!!

High prices but good quality

What a great spot. Food is very good, fried whole belly clams are right up there with the famous spots in Essex Mass. lobster rolls ( hot and cold ) are very good. Outside dining has a great view.
