having just left an afternoon bay cruise, we were hungry. not being from RI, I looked online for something on our way to the hotel. the thirsty beaver seemed like a cool name and the website showed foods we liked. found it no problem and had no trouble parking. we walked in the big open garage to a very welcoming Ava C. she was so friendly and her warmth drew us in. the space has a great open brewery look/feel to it. five tv screens were showing five different sporting event and/or talk shows. as a side the talk show that was showing could have had the closed captioning on to see what they were talking about. the sandwiches we ordered were hot and fantastic. hit the spot. Ava was knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. if we are ever back in the area, we know where to dine.

The Thirsty Beaver offers a variety of tavern style food including a variety of chicken sandwiches, all while being seated in a rustic setting surrounding their brand. It's a quaint place with decent service and food. There is a bit of parking available so no problem there. Stop by and give them a try for a chickie sammich!

They were closed when their hours showed they were open and on line ordering was still available. Dove to the location and all the lights were out. This place must love collecting 1 star reviews.

Decided to stop by after a long day working in the yard.
First impression walking in: big open garage vibe with high ceilings and cement floors. The sound of bar stools screeching across the floor didn’t help the ambiance. I grabbed a seat and ordered a Muse—nice to see some lesser-known local brews on tap.

For an evening in the upper 60s, it was surprisingly cold inside. The high ceilings and constantly running fans made it drafty—definitely bring a jacket. The woman next to me at the bar had her arms tucked into her jacket and looked just as chilly.

Took a look at the menu but nothing really stood out. Given the quirky branding and Rhode Island location, I expected more creativity—maybe something seasonal, seafood-focused, or a fresh twist on New England comfort food. Instead, it was mostly deep-fried and cheese-covered.

I went with the Old Smoky. Burger was cooked well, but the smooth edges were a dead giveaway that it was a frozen patty. And why is every burger on a brioche bun? Mine was soggy before I even picked it up. A real burger deserves a potato roll, pretzel bun, or at least something toasted and sturdy.

Overall vibe? Classic “upscale bar food trying to be clever.” The pun-heavy names (Obi-Wan Pierogi, Justin Beaver Bites) felt more forced than fun. Way too many fried items—tortellini, pickles, mozz bites, cauliflower, pierogies... it felt like a state fair menu.

Unless it's a hot day and you're just popping in for a cold beer, I'd probably skip a return visit.

Fantastic atmosphere, menu, and service. Can’t wait to come back again.

Dietary restrictions: I am allergic to beef and they were able to make one of the dishes into chicken to accommodate me.

Kid-friendliness: There were many families dining with their kids, so the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming.

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair access for disabled persons.

Food is average and selection is a bit limited. Their unique spin on common dishes were a miss for me.

Didn’t get to eat the food. Hour and a half wait. Second time now tried to order and the wait was excessive. Maybe they need more help or maybe they’re that good it’s just busy, can’t really say.
