I was so very disappointed 😞 I bought 3 patties, 2 beef and one chicken. Spent over $20! Sorry to say, they were the most awful things I've ever eaten. The chicken patty tasted like bland tuna fish and the dough...dense and no flavor at all! I previously had a veggie patty at an event and it was so delicious! What happened?

The best food I’ve had not on the island. Wow. The combo bowl is off the hook!

I don’t know much about Jamaican food but I really like the jerk chicken bowl and the few times I’ve gone the people that work there are very nice

The owner was very nice. The curry goat bowl tasted like my grandmothers. The jerk chicken bowl was more sweet than spicy, my boyfriend loved it.

Food was quick, tasty, and full of flavor! This spot has such a cool vibe—loved the stunning mural artwork on the walls. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. My husband had the oxtail, my son got the jerk chicken rice bowl, and I had both the beef and chicken patties—everything was delicious. They also have fun Jamaican sodas that were a hit. We’ll definitely be back!

On a cold windy March day with a glimpse of Spring nothing makes me happier than diving slowly in JA PATTY’s Curry goat rice bowl. The Tuck Shops tender delicate, highly flavorful synergy of ingredients with deep, rich flavors of juicy goat meat help you slow down and mindfully enjoy your food. This bowls purposeful texture contrasts and bright colors nourish the brain, body, and soul. Big up and keep up the good works!

JA Patty is a new addition to the Providence area, that is within walking distance of Dexter Park. The patties are slightly more doughy than the traditional Jamaican Tastee Patty but has much less sugar in the dough and is a healthier meal for health-conscius Patty lovers. But the real hits are the Oxtail and Curry Goat Rice Bowls. As a Jamaican, I was very impressed by the flavor profile and overall coherence of these dishes. Not too much food, but a fulfilling bite that doesn't disappoint. The space is also ideal for a quick business lunch, a small evening event, a poetry night, or a small
organization meeting or just a few friends gettimg togetheron a weekend night. The walls have exceptionally well done mural-style art work of scenes related to Jamaican food, culture and geography. This new spot is worth checking out!

Went for lunch to try the new restaurant in the neighborhood. Was very hopeful to have a new go to Jamaican Patty spot so close to home.

However, we each got a patty and were disappointed with how dry they were. The jerk didn’t have much flavor and the beef one was even worse. Hopefully they can figure out a way to improve, I know they opened pretty recently but these were unfortunately a waste of money.

Grab a jerk chicken bowl, a ting, admire the mural of Bob Marley on the wall and just vibe….

I’ve known of Ja Patty for a while, and have sampled their food at events, it’s always tasty, and legit great Jamaican food. The fact they now have a brick & mortar only confirms that the community has good taste and has demanded to be able to get their Ja Patty fix all the time now.

I came in at 2:30 for a late lunch, hard to pick between jerk chicken or curry goat, but I wanted to try the signature Jerk. It was like a nice warm hug on this cold dreary day, the chicken was really tender, had some good heat, but it won’t blow your socks off, I’m sure if needed, they’ll up the spice for you.
The coconut rice was so fluffy, it had the coconut fragrance just wafting from it, and the just right crunchy slaw provided a nice acidic bite, then the maduros gave a sweet respite from the heat, if needed.

Bonus points that the bowl, fork and sauce cups were all compostable but sturdy, and the Ting bottle was recyclable.

Overall, great food, amazing space with beautiful murals on all the walls, comfy seating and fast service.

Vegetarian options: They offer both veggie/vegan patties and rice bowls.

Parking: Great easy on street parking, right off the Westminster st exit off 10.
